❄️❄️ patient update Thursday 8th January 2026 ❄️ ❄️

Due to the snow fall overnight some of our staff will take longer to get to the surgery than expected.

For patients with an appointment between 8am and 9am you will shortly receive a text message offering an appointment later in the morning.

Cruden bay surgery is closed today and Hatton will be opened between 8am and 6pm.

If you have an appointment booked and wish to reschedule this can be done using our website, submitting an econsult or by calling the practice later in the day.

We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and are working hard to get staff safely to the practice.

Thank you

Due to the ongoing snowy conditions we are operating with reduced staffing Wednesday 7th January.

Aberdeenshire HSCP have cancelled all CTAC clinics and there is no lab collection service. This means there will be no phlebotomy appointments tomorrow.

The GP and nurse will be in Hatton surgery from 8am-6pm. Cruden bay surgery will have an administrator only. We apologise for any disruption caused.

Please use our online consultation tool (econsult) via our practice website where ever possible.

SCAM ALERT

There have been reports from across Scotland of scam phone calls impersonating GP practices. The caller or automated message asks you to press a button to update your details, threatening that if you fail to do this you will be removed from the GP's practice list.

GP surgeries and hospitals will never request personal information in this way and will never threaten patients with removal from practice lists in this way. Some patients have also received scam text messages that state they will be removed from a waiting list unless they respond to the message.

How to Avoid ⬇️
- If in doubt about the legitimacy of a call or message about GP or NHS services, hang up, clear the line and call your GP practice or local health service using a publicly listed number.
- Do not press 1 or follow any other instructions given in an automated message
- Don't click on links in unexpected text messages or emails.

🥵 😬 Sunburned? Here's how to relieve your symptoms until your skin heals:

▪️ Cool down: Take frequent cool baths or showers to relieve the heat.
▪️ Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help your body recover.
▪️ Pain relief: Over-the-counter painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen can help ease discomfort.
▪️ Protect your skin: Wear loose clothing and avoid further sun exposure until healed.

Your nearest pharmacist can advise you on the best treatment if you have sunburn.

With more hot weather expected in the next few days, prevention is better than cure:

▪️ Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.
▪️ Dress appropriately: Wear loose, light-colored clothing and a wide-brimmed hat.
▪️ Seek shade: Avoid direct sun exposure between 11am and 3pm.
▪️ Use sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and reapply every two hours.
