When people think about volunteering with Hounds for Heroes, they often picture raising a future assistance dog 🐾

And they're not wrong.

Puppy Parents play a vital role in helping our dogs take their first steps towards becoming life-changing assistance dogs.

And they're part of a wider team of volunteers helping make our work possible.

From helping at events and supporting fundraising activities to assisting in the office and raising awareness in the community, there are lots of ways to be part of the Hounds for Heroes team.

Different skills. Different amounts of time. Different ways to get involved.

But every role helps us move one step closer to creating life-changing partnerships.

Think you could be part of the pack? Visit our website to find out more and get in touch about our volunteering opportunities.

Allen and ET VIPs for the day

Reviewing officer, Admiral Blount and Captain Cromie , CO HMS Collingwood posed for the traditional team pic during the prize giving at the Ceremonial Divisions held last Friday. One very proud Allen And ET at the center

Allen "Genuinely privileged and honoured to have been invited to attend HMS Collingwood's ceremonial divisions and annual prize giving as Guest of Captain John Cromie RN yesterday

HMS Collingwood was my school of electronic engineering throughout my career in the Royal Navy from being a young sixteen and a half year old recruit until my medical discharge many moons later and a place that still holds a very special place in my heart.

Somehow it was just so nice to be able to park my disability at the main gate and step back into my old Naval life. The banter, camaraderie and friendship in shedloads

Without doubt the Royal Navy of tomorrow is in the safe hands of the recruits of today!"

Shout Out to Keith for the photograph

This Volunteers’ Week, we're sending a huge paw-high five to the people who help make Hounds for Heroes possible 💙🐾

From Puppy Parents and office volunteers to event helpers and those supporting us behind the scenes, every contribution helps our assistance dogs on their journey.

Whether it's giving your time, sharing your skills or lending a helping hand when it's needed most, you're helping us change lives.

Over the coming week, we'll be celebrating the many ways people support Hounds for Heroes and sharing how you can get involved too.

For now, this one's for our volunteers. Every hour given, every event supported and every helping hand brings us one step closer to creating life-changing partnerships. Thank you.

This National Smile Day, we think we've found the perfect ambassador 😄🐾

From bringing comfort and companionship to spreading joy wherever they go, our dogs have a wonderful way of making people smile.

And judging by this face, somebody is very proud of that fact.

Happy National Smile Day from everyone at Hounds for Heroes 💙

Allen and assistance dog E.T. recently visited the Gosport Masonic Lodge, where WM P Jackson of kindly presented Hounds for Heroes with a generous donation of £1,000 🐾

Support like this plays an important role in helping us continue providing specially trained assistance dogs to physically disabled members of HM Armed Forces and UK Emergency Services.

A huge thank you to everyone at the lodge for their warm welcome, generosity and support of Hounds for Heroes 💙

Siblings Minnie and Fletcher have both passed their Bronze puppy training with flying colours! 🐾

A huge well done to them both, it’s been wonderful to watch them grow from tiny 8-week-old puppies into confident young dogs making fantastic progress just six months later.

Achievements like this are a true team effort. From our dedicated Puppy Parent families to the expert Hounds for Heroes training team, every milestone is made possible by the time, patience, guidance and support they provide along the way. 💙

A huge thank you to the amazing team at Barnaby's Coffee Shop Swanmore, everyone involved in organising the Swanmore Classic Cars event, and all the wonderful volunteers and supporters who gave up their time on Saturday to support Hounds for Heroes 🐾

We’re also incredibly grateful to Barnaby’s lovely customers and the local community for coming along, donating and showing such fantastic support throughout the day.

Thanks to everyone’s kindness and generosity, an incredible £446.52 was raised for Hounds for Heroes and our life-changing assistance dogs.

A special shout-out goes to our wonderful volunteers, Mike and Janice, who raised £56.25 on the Hounds for Heroes stall. Thank you as well to puppy parents John and Bobbie for proudly flying the Hounds for Heroes flag throughout the event, and for helping make this fantastic connection possible.

Although Amber and Tilly couldn’t attend this time due to the heatwave, it was simply too hot for dogs to be out safely, they stayed home keeping cool, comfortable and safely out of the sunshine ☀️🐶

Thank you to everyone who supported the event and helped make the day such a success. We truly can’t thank you enough for your support!

If you would like to organise a fundraising event for Hounds for Heroes or volunteer at one of our future events, we’d love to hear from you, please get in touch at fundraising@houndsforheroes.com

Astra has also been enjoying a tasty way to stay cool during the current heatwave ☀️🐾

This week, she’s been keeping chilled with some delicious Frozzys yoghurt on her LickiMat, the perfect refreshing treat and enrichment activity during the warmer weather.

Alongside plenty of shade, fresh water and rest, cooling treats can be a great way to help keep dogs comfortable as temperatures continue to rise.

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Frozzys and LickiMat for kindly donating products for our dogs in training to enjoy, support like this is hugely appreciated by everyone at Hounds for Heroes.

Safe to say Astra is a big fan! 💙

Keeping cool is serious business for Hounds for Heroes assistance dog in training, Astra ☀️🐾

With the temperatures soaring this week, Astra has been enjoying plenty of ways to stay safe and cool, including lots of fun in her splash pool!

Keeping dogs cool during hot weather is so important and thankfully Astra has fully embraced paddling pool life and seems to be having a great time splashing around making the most of the sunshine safely 💦

How are your dogs keeping cool during the heatwave?

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Hounds for Heroes Information Session last week 💙🐾

It was fantastic to welcome so many wonderful supporters to Hounds HQ and share more about who we are, what we do and the life-changing impact our assistance dogs have for serving and former members of the HM Armed Forces and UK Emergency Services.

We were also delighted to enjoy a brilliant demonstration from Tilly and her trainer Lexi, who did an amazing job showcasing some of the incredible skills our dogs learn during their training 🐶

Thank you to everyone who came along, asked questions, showed support and helped make the evening so special.

We loved meeting you all and are already looking forward to the next one!
