This year, any money we raise at our Summer Garden Party will be donated to Marie Curie.

Marie Curie nurses and healthcare professionals provide expert hospice care, whatever the illness, in the comfort of home and hospice.

Their services help provide clinical care and emotional support, assisting people so they're able to live their best life possible to the end.

They will ease pain, protect dignity and support the person's loved ones as well.

It's a great cause and we hope everyone will join us ( Friday 29th August 2 - 5 pm) to help raise funds for this worthy charity.

We had a great time with memory bingo, using the tablet and YouTube to play the songs for us, leading to a spontaneous sing along. Maryam put herself in charge of the bingo chart and loved the singing.

Roy picked the Andy Pandy square which led to lots of memories of childhood TV programmes and how different it is now.

Today is 'National Moon Day' which celebrates the first moon landing in 1969. We read facts and information about space.... Did you know space is completely silent, which Su thought might be quite nice!

We took some books, games, the tablet and the space facts into rooms this afternoon, giving residents a choice of activities.

It's that holiday time of the year so this morning we reminisced about where we used to go.

Holidays were very different when our residents were young, there were no cheap all inclusive package deals to Spain etc.

Many had days out to the beach, bucket and spade with the promise of an ice cream for being good.

Holiday camps such as Butlins were also a popular choice alongside camping and caravanning. Jean fondly remembered her Butlins adventures.

Beryl used to go to Ramsgate, she loved being on the beach and watching the boats in the harbour.

David and Su liked to relax in a deck chair after spending time exploring the local area and learning some of the history.

Jenny's parents would take her on the ferry to France, being on the boat was the most exciting part of her holiday.

Trissie spent lots of holidays in a static caravan on the Isle of Wight, it was like a mini home from home.

It's been a busy first half of the year for birthdays.

Birthdays are important as they offer us a way to celebrate a person's life, their journey and their presence in our life.

It's a chance to acknowledge milestones, strengthen relationships, boost self-esteem and provide a sense of belonging and connection.

We had a very successful Burns Gym session yesterday.

Everyone was stretching their arms and legs and following the two lovely young Scottish instructors.

It's always a fun half hour as we all try to keep up 😄

This month our armchair travels are taking us to Wales and Romania.

This afternoon we coloured in pictures linked to the two countries and learnt some facts.

The capital of Romania is Bucharest and the Welsh capital is Cardiff.

The population of Romania is 19 million whereas Wales is 3.1 million.

Romania has the tallest wooden church in the world standing 78 meters/256 feet high.

Wales boasts more castles per square mile than any other country in Europe.

We looked at photos of both countries and watched some YouTube videos.
