This weekend we spent a lot of time reminiscing about days gone by.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the memory box, the pre-decimal coins were a definite favourite.

June remembered taking her daughters to the shop so they could spend their pocket money on treats

Beryl talked about her days as a hairdresser and customers always paying cash, no cards back then.

Rita liked the postcards and remembering holidays when she was younger, needing some coins for an ice cream.

Ray tried his hand at the lacing cards but decided the holes were too small.

Jean was happy browsing her books about the countryside and talked about some of her favourite dog walks.

Today our wonderful head chef, Sarinya, treated us to a delicious Chinese meal.

This included Sweet and sour chicken, Chicken in black bean sauce and Duck chow mein with egg fried rice, vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers.

This was followed by tasty banana fritters with syrup for pudding....what a treat.

The meal was very well received by everyone...thank you Sarinya, we look forward to seeing where our next culinary adventure will take us.

Today is International Men's Day.

It is a day to celebrate the value men bring to the world, their communities and families.

It is also a time to highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men's wellbeing.

We would like to celebrate the men in our home and the men in all our lives.

This week is anti-bullying week and we have worn odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.

This year the campaign is to empower people to use their Power for Good to speak out, support others and build a world where kindness wins.

Some of our staff wore odd socks, resident Roy joined in.

For fun I've included a picture of one of our staff's cats, Sox, who is unique himself.
Little Odd Sox has an extra digit on his paws and was unwanted until Paula took him in.

So let's all try to be kinder to each other 🥰

Thank you Natasha for a wonderful afternoon of music and singing.

We had a lovely afternoon singing along to the old war songs.

Natasha entertained us as the old familiar tunes brought back memories of those who were lost and to give thanks to all who served in one way or another.

This week we have been thanking the staff at Boots in Petersfield high street for all they do for us.

We first thanked the 2 lovely people who deliver all our medications to us Dean and Jan.

Thanks also goes to the staff at Boots pharmacy and the care home staff there who deal with all our medication needs.

We are very grateful for all you do.

Mary and I braved the weather to go and see the poppies in Petersfield.

Mary was one of our residents who knitted a poppy along with other residents, staff and families.

It looks spectacular and is a fitting display of remembrance.

"We shall remember them"

Today we watched the service of remembrance from the Cenotaph, we fell silent at 11am and remembered our loved ones.

Trissie remembered the air raids and seeing the planes overhead.

Su spoke of her Grandparents who served during the second world war.

Roy reminisced about visiting a war memorial to find family names.

A very emotional day and one we wore our poppies with pride and thanks for those that have served on our behalf.
