On Friday we said a fond farewell to Frankie, who retires after 20 wonderful years with us.

Over her time at Petworth Cottage, Frankie has served faithfully as both a carer and, more recently, in our laundry team… but her impact went far beyond her roles.

She always made time to stop and chat with residents, sharing a smile that lifted spirits. Her gentle presence will be dearly missed by everyone here, but especially by colleagues, because on the tough days, Frankie always brings a kind word of encouragement.

We wish her every happiness as she steps into this exciting new chapter. Thank you, Frankie, for everything. 🌼💚

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall at the Petworth Park Fete on Saturday! 🌿

We had a wonderful day meeting so many of you, and the sunshine was the cherry on top. A huge shout-out to Hannah T for keeping us organised and ensuring our stand looked absolutely fantastic.

Your support helps us continue fostering community and connection here at Petworth Cottage Nursing Home. We’ll see you again at the fete next year! ✨

☀️ What wonderful weather we’re having!

Last Thursday, the sunshine brought a perfect backdrop for a fantastic BBQ at Petworth Cottage. Residents, family, and friends gathered for an afternoon of food, fun, and fabulous live music from Nigel Smith.

A huge shout-out to our talented chef, Elaine, for serving up delicious dishes that everyone enjoyed. The garden was in full bloom, creating a vibrant, joyful atmosphere for all.

🫧 Namaste Care at Petworth Cottage 🌿

As part of , we’ve been embracing the gentle, person-centred principles of Namaste Care—a therapeutic approach originally developed to support people with advanced dementia. We have adapted this care more widely to enhance wellbeing for all residents who benefit from additional sensory and emotional support.

From sensory lighting and soothing baths to massage therapy and personalised playlists, we’ve created peaceful spaces where residents can relax and feel truly cared for. 💜

Namaste Care reminds us that meaningful moments don’t need words; just presence, touch, and love.

👒 Styles, smiles, and a spot of shopping!

As part of our celebrations, Petworth Cottage hosted a special pop-up shop right here in the home!

Run by our amazing staff and volunteers, the shop was stocked with clothes, hats, and a few lovely extras, giving residents the chance to browse, choose, and enjoy a classic shopping experience from the comfort of their home.

🕰️ Step back in time with us!

As part of , we were delighted to welcome local historians Peter and Miles to Petworth Cottage Nursing Home yesterday.

They brought to life the remarkable journey of our building: from its origins in 1867 as a community-run Cottage Hospital, through its time with the NHS, to its re-establishment in 1971 as the much-loved charity nursing home we are today.

A special thank you to Miles for generously loaning original artefacts and historical records (some dating back over 150 years!), offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives of those cared for here over the decades.

We’re proud of our heritage and proud of the modern care we offer today. This week, we’re celebrating both past and present, with a host of activities for residents and events for our local community!
