Do you have to be an athlete to get a Sports Massage? No is the short answer.

This is a question many ask but fitness and activity isn’t the only reason you may need a sports massage.

Sports massage is a therapy and is for every body.

I see a wide range of people visiting for all different reasons:

Office workers with desk related tension.

Tradespeople with aches due to working hard as part of their job.

Runners & Gym goers who have increased their output a little too much or forget flexibility is important.

Peri-menopausal women navigating new body changes. Aches and pains are definitely part of menopause.

Exercise class lovers feeling the post workout stiffness especially if you have increased your workout.

Retired people wanting to stay mobile and independent or who have been a bit sedentary and need some help to get back out there.

Everyone is unique and has their own story. Whether you’ve been out of your routine over the Christmas period or you’re dealing with long term stiffness, I am here to help.

Therapy is a judgment free zone, we are not here to judge you. In your fitness level, your weight, or anything in your journey. We are here to listen to you, support and provide hands on relief thereby giving you the confidence to get moving and in a descending pain range.

Wow, it’s nearly time to be back at work!

I’m back to then clinic on the 5th January. Have you had a long break?

Has your back been playing up or your hips and joints feeling stiff?

Most often it’s not through anything serious , it’s that our bodies have had more time sitting, a reduction in movement and a change in routine.

Our bodies adapt to what we do and struggle with change too quickly both more or less.

So bit less movement can mean things feel tighter or more sensitive, especially at this time of year.

Great news with some gentle movement, and getting back into routine, gradually loading the body again will usually help settle your body’s aches and stiffness.

Sometimes the smallest bit of movement is enough to remind your body that it’s okay again.

Our Body’s protective response is epic.

When your brain perceives damage, or even the threat of damage, it creates pain to protect you.
What's important to know is that pain is multifactorial. Many factors can have an influence on how much pain you feel, including:

✨ Sleep quality
✨ Stress
✨ Fear
✨ Anxiety or low mood levels
✨ Working and life balance
✨ Body weight

Pain is real but sometimes, this amazing protective system becomes extra sensitive, and pain can persist even when there’s no ongoing harm. That’s where understanding pain science can make a big difference.

Sports massage, movement strategies, and learning how pain works can really help calm things down and give you confidence in your body again. This will enable you to get out there and enjoy all the activities you love or could grow to love.

If you wait until tomorrow, tomorrow never comes. Choose a change today, make it small and let it grow over time.
