Great news!
In addition to First Aid becoming part of curriculum in schools, now drivers will be required to gain knowledge about CPR and use of AED.
Let's hope these changes will bring the UK's survival rates up for out of hospital cardiac arrest.
Questions about CPR and use of AED to be added to driving theory test. Changes to be implemented in Autumn 2025.
In countries, where it's mandatory for drivers to have First Aid Course, the survival rates for out of hospital cardiac arrest are above UK's. At the moment in UK - 23-27% survival rate in comparison to eg. Germany - 40-42%!!! (That is with CPR started immediately after collapse)
In addition to that many countries impose criminal charges, or penalties in cases where people fail to intervene, provide assistance or summon help in emergency, when someone is in danger or at risk of death or serious health issues.
In UK we have no general duty...
What do you think about that?

From 2026, driving theory tests will include new CPR questions and, for the first time, questions about defibrillators to boost cardiac arrest survival.
