Ginger has been used around the world for many years and is often found in Japanese Indian and South Asian dishes. As well as being used in food, it is delicious drunk as a tea.
It can be used to help with nausea, morning sickness during pregnancy and also motion sickness. It has a number of benefits for IBS in that it can help prevent indigestion, gas and bloating.
Ginger acts as an anti-spasmodic by relaxing and soothing your intestinal tract.
It is also known to reduce anxiety, which for some people can worsen gastrointestinal symptoms, and it contains a number of substances which can bind to the serotonin receptors in your digestive system in order to lessen some of the IBS symptoms.
