🌺Yoga Retreat
🌿Location: Dolcedo, Italy
⏱️When: June 28 - July 5
🦎Teacher: Pixie Lillas

Pixie Lillas will be teaching a one-week (7 nights) retreat for experienced students in Dolcedo, Liguria in Italy.

Unlike a yoga holiday, a retreat offers the opportunity to absorb oneself in the study of asana and pranayama without the distractions of everyday life. Participants are encouraged to approach the week from the perspective of immersion and reflection.

Students who attend Dolcedo will have the opportunity to explore the effects of pranayama once or twice a day and to have ongoing sequential asana sessions which allow for the development of particular yoga techniques and concepts tailored to the group.

In case anyone who follows me here is interested, myself, Chris and Tiggy have sold our house and are taking a year out to travel around Europe in our motorhome. I will be mostly posting on our Instagram account in case anyone is interested in following our journey around. This photo is from a practice I did in Liguria on a board walk by a natural swimming pool filtered only by rocks and aquatic plants. The swim after was marvellous! 😊 PS I am still teaching one online class per week from wherever I am and embracing the challenge of making use whatever space available 🤣 🧘‍♀️

Dear yoga friends and students, you will see a new profile and name for my Hope Valley Yoga page from now on.... After teaching in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire for over 12 years, it's time let go of the name Hope Valley Yoga. I moved out of the area almost 3 years ago when I sold the house and yoga studio and after winding up classes in the Hope Valley a few months ago it seems like it's finally time to move on, even though it seems like a part of my identity has also disappeared with the name! It has been hard to let go but practising non-attachment is part of the yoga journey so you will now see the name Three Grey Nomads appear in its place. This is the new page name and shortly will be the name of a new website where you can book online classes as before but also follow our travel blog as we embark upon a year of travel, taking with us the things we love .... yoga, our van, Tiggy the whippet and writing. As soon as the new website is up and running I will post again if anyone is interested in following the journey! 🙏🙏

If anyone is running a yoga retreat and is looking for a fabulous chef who prepares the most amazing food from fresh healthy ingredients, look no further than Emma Glossop who has just finshed her 4th retreat with us in Italy. She is currently relaxing on a sunny Ligurian beach to recover but would be happy to discuss your requirements at any time. Her background is cooking on board yachts and running her own home catering business for groups as well as retreats so has many years experience and is unflappable to boot. The photos don’t even do it justice but here are some examples!

Our Story

Catherine Morgan is a Junior Intermediate Level 2 certified Iyengar Yoga teacher who trained in Australia under the well respected advanced teacher Pixie Lillas. She has trained with the Iyengar family both at the Institute in Pune and at conventions in Australia and the UK as well as attending an annual teachers’ retreat in Italy with Pixie Lillas. She has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for 10 years, opening the purpose built (RIBA award winning) Hope Valley Yoga Studio in Hathersage in 2013. Elaine Bull also holds a Junior Intermediate Level 2 certificate and been has practicing Iyengar yoga since 2000. She completed her teacher training with Jayne Orton in 2009 and now teaches classes in Bamford, Grindleford, Sheffield as well as at the Hope Valley Yoga Studio. She attends regular classes and workshops for teachers at the Manchester Institute and Sheffield Yoga Centre.

For those not familiar with the Iyengar method, this style of yoga focuses on precise alignment and detailed teaching instruction whilst bringing the mind into harmony with the physical body. The use of props makes yoga accessible and safe for all body types and ages, irrespective of ailment or injury.
