Happy Christmas πŸŽ… and see you in2024

Spring is slowly thinking about making an appearance and it is coming to that time of year again where lambing will start very soon, and sheep are heavily in lamb.
If you plan to take your dog for a walk, please be mindful of this and keep your dog on a lead. A dog running around barking or chasing the sheep can lead to unwanted abortions, which can be costly for the farmer. Not only that if you see a sheep stuck on her back, please be kind and quietly tip her back onto her front, you might just save her and her lambs' lives.

If you see any sheep or livestock worrying, you can contact Police Scotland as sheep worrying is an offence and can be fined up to Β£40,000.

The issue issue of sheep worrying by dogs continues to affect sheep farmers and their flocks across Scotland. Tomorrow the National Sheep Association launch's its 2021 campaign, titled by releasing the latest results from its farmers' survey.

The survey has broken all previous NSA survey records for the number of respondents sharing their experiences of attacks on their flocks during the past year, an early indication of the shocking scale of the problem.

It is hoped the campaign hashtag will be recognised as an encouragement to dog owners to be responsible and act as an example to others by keeping their pets on leads in the presence of livestock.

DID YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD NOT POUR COLD WATER ON AN OVERHEATED DOG OR PUT A WET TOWEL ON THEIR BACK ‼️
HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO…
Animal lovers, never make the mistake of throwing cold water on an overheated dog or putting a wet towel on his back. You will see the opposite effect.
Due to the cold, the veins contract and due to the high temperature (above 42 degrees), the proteins in the blood clot, which makes the blood thick and viscous.
Due to the combination of the two, the heart can no longer get the blood and the organs fail one by one due to lack of oxygen.
The result is a very slow but very painful death.
If you try to help an overheated dog in this way, he will still die.
First give lukewarm water to drink, then cool the soles of the feet and chest/lower abdomen with a damp towel.
Then put the dog in the shade on a damp towel!!
Sharing is highly desirable because again and again we see images of overheated dogs getting out of a car with water poured on their backs
