From 20 October 2025, patients that have been advised by their GP to have blood tests can now book appointments at both Windsor House and Derriford Outpatients. This change is designed to reduce waiting times, improve patient experience, and give patients more choice.

Patients can book online for their appointments from 16 October. If you have limited or no access to the internet, provisions have been made and you can call our dedicated phoneline on 01752 433040.

If you are attending a UHP hospital appointment (e.g. with a consultant or specialist team) and have also been asked to have bloods taken, we encourage you to book an appointment, where you are able to. This gives you the convenience of knowing when you’ll be seen.

If you’ve been asked by your consultant or team to have bloods taken in preparation for a procedure, and you can’t book in time, you will still be seen at Derriford Outpatients’ phlebotomy service through the urgent or same-day pathway. We’ll do our best to keep waits as short as possible, but cannot guarantee waiting times.

If you’re unable to book an appointment, you do not need to book between 8am-11am, but please confirm with your clinician if this applies to you.

From today, Monday 6 October, all routine blood tests at Windsor House are moving to an appointment-only system using the SwiftQueue booking portal. This change has been introduced to reduce queues, improve patient comfort and experience, and provide more choice with early morning and late-afternoon slots.

Patients can now book, change or cancel their blood test appointments online using their NHS login. For those without internet access, a dedicated booking phone line is available on 01752 433040.

Some walk-ins will still be accepted during a short transition period, but Windsor House will become fully appointment-only in the coming weeks. Urgent or specialist blood tests will continue to take place at the Derriford Outpatients Department.

Come in for a Chat and a Brew!

From 1:30 to 4:30 every Monday, we host a Mental Health and Recovery Drop-In with Devon Mental Health Alliance. No booking required – just turn up!

Our drop-ins are a non-clinical space, which means you don’t need to be referred or have a diagnosis to attend, are free of charge, and are shaped by you. Staff are available for a one to one chat, and there are a range of activities available.

They are a space for any adult who is impacted by mental health challenges to come and be welcome, meet new people, learn about local support and services, and occasionally learn a new skill. Whether you’re experiencing a difficulty yourself, are the family member or carer of someone struggling, or would simply like a little support and company, come and join us!

The Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is now open, 8am - 8pm for patients of any age, with no appointment needed.
Located in the new Dartmoor Building at the top of the Derriford hospital site, opposite the multi storey, Costa Coffee and Boots chemist. The new UTC will provide treatment in addition to the Cumberland Centre in Devonport and Minor Injury Units in Tavistock and Kingsbridge.

The Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is now open, 8am - 8-pm for patients of any age, with no appointment needed.

Located in the new Dartmoor Building, the UTC can treat the following:
• Limb fractures
• Minor illness
• Sprains and strains
• Minor head injuries
• Minor scalds and burns
• Bites and stings
• Foreign bodies in eyes
• Infected wounds
• Cuts and more…

There are 14 drop-off spaces and 2 disabled spaces, each with a 30-minute limit. For longer stays, please use the multi-storey car park.

Dartmoor building is located at the top of the hospital site, opposite the multi storey, Costa Coffee and Boots chemist. The new UTC will provide treatment in addition to the Cumberland Centre in Devonport and Minor Injury Units in Tavistock and Kingsbridge.
