Hi, I'm Karen, I teach the Friday morning classes and am the founder of YogaBird.

YogaBird was built on one simple idea: that you don’t need to be anything other than yourself to do yoga.

You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need to be calm.
You don’t need matching leggings or a quiet mind.

You just need a body and a bit of curiosity.

🧘 It’s never too late to start living well

There’s no deadline for feeling better.
No 'right age'. No perfect moment. No version of you that you need to become first.

Yoga isn’t about starting earlier or doing more.
It’s about starting where you are.

Maybe that looks like:

moving a little more gently

breathing a little more deeply

giving yourself one hour a week that’s just for you

Small steps count.
Showing up counts.
Starting now absolutely counts.

🪑SPOTLIGHT: Chair Pose (Utkatasana)

Chair Pose is one of those sneaky poses… it looks simple, but wow, it works your whole body! 💪

This standing posture builds strength, focus, and stamina from the ground up.
It wakes up the legs, lights up the core, and invites you to breathe steadily even when your thighs are having words with you 😅

What it supports:

Building heat and strength in the body
Anchoring into the legs and feet
Learning to stay calm and focused while holding intensity

This pose is a little reminder that you can do difficult thingsand smile while doing them.

Modify it. Adjust it. Rest when you need.

But know that every time you rise into Chair Pose, you’re building something powerful

🧘 So… what can yoga actually do for you?

You’ll often hear people say that Yoga is good for you.

But what does that really look like in real life?

For a lot of people, it’s things like:

feeling less tense in your body

sleeping a bit better

breathing more easily

your head feeling a little quieter

Yoga isn’t about perfect poses or being bendy.
It’s about making space.
In your body. In your mind. In your week.

Even one class can help you feel more grounded, a bit lighter, and more like yourself again.

No pressure. No judgement.
Just gentle movement, breathing, and time for you.
Come as you are 💚

🧘‍♀️Spotlight: Child’s Pose 🧘‍♂️

Because sometimes you just need a moment to breathe.

Child’s Pose (Balasana) is the ultimate rest-and-reset posture.
It’s simple. It’s grounding. And it reminds your body and mind that it’s safe to slow down.

You can take it anytime in class, or even at home when you need a break.

Here’s what it helps with:

Calms a busy mind
Gently stretches your back, hips and shoulders
Slows your breathing
Feels like a little hug for your nervous system

You can make it your own, add a cushion under your chest or hips, widen your knees, or keep your arms by your sides.

There’s no wrong way to rest.

In a world that rewards pushing through, this pose says:

It’s okay to pause. Rest is powerful too.

Try it today, even if just for 30 seconds. Breathe in… and let the day soften around you.
