About the MTM Awards
Launched in 2012, the MTM Awards were created to recognise Asian, Black, and Ethnic Minority communities in the South West of England, who had often been overlooked by local award ceremonies. Over the years, MTM has become a beacon of hope, shining a light on the diverse achievements of businesses, artists, fashion and hair designers, creatives, and community organisations.
In 2016, MTM expanded internationally, welcoming its first nominee and award dinner guest from Kenya. Since then, it has proudly hosted nominees, artists, and guests from across East, Central, and Southern Africa — providing a powerful platform for individuals, creatives, and international communities who might otherwise have gone unrecognised.
In 2022, MTM launched World Kiswahili Day at the House of Lords in London — a historic milestone celebrating the Swahili language, culture, and heritage.
