The ongoing saga of the broken broadband (three months and counting) is now compounded by a fault on the phone line. You can call me, but I can't return the call! Three Openreach engineers have checked the line and all declared there's nothing wrong with it.

I have ordered new services elsewhere, and hope to have everything running smoothly again soon.

We have recently received our new utility prices through and, not unexpectedly, the bills are going to be at least triple what they were. We have managed to renegotiate some discount from our telecoms and broadband charges, but sadly we still need to raise our treatment prices to cover some of the increased costs.

We will also be saying goodbye to Tom as he takes a new job in Newquay, and have decided at this time to try and make do without a receptionist in order to keep our costs down further. Please bear with us while we implement an answering service of some sort in the interim.

​We are really sad to have to do this, it is something we had hoped to avoid, but the price of everything has continued to go up over the last few months and we are now at the stage where we have no choice.

From the 1st of March:
- The standard treatment will increase by £2 to £37.00
- New patient appointments will increase by £4 to £44.00
- Couples concession price will increase by £2 each to £32.00 each (when seen at the same time)

Thank you for your continued custom, it is very much appreciated, especially during this time of financial upheaval for us all.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, footwear is often the reason your feet hurt!

Here is a great visual that shows what happens to your foot when you put your shoes on! (With thanks to our friends at The Foot Collective)

• Lack of room in the toe box can cause callus, corns and ingrown toe nails.

•Pressure from adjoining toes can cause permanent nail deformities.

•Lack of room to breathe can cause fungal nail infections and athletes foot between the toes.

•The toes are forced into unnatural positions that lead to bunions and clawed/hammered toes.

If you are suffering from foot pain changing your footwear can be a good place to start, and we are always happy to help if you’re not sure where to start.

NEW CLINIC OPENING HOURS FROM 1st OCTOBER:

Wednesday to Saturday from 8.30am to 5.30pm.

Whichever way we look at it, from 1st October our costs are likely to go up due to increased energy costs, and this is on top of the constant small price increases we have absorbed throughout this year on most of our consumables such as dressings and creams.

As the clinic is my only source of income I need to be sure that I protect both the clinic and myself from any financial difficulty. I am also trying to avoid having to increase my prices as this just adds to everyone's problems!

To keep costs down as much as possible I have decided to change the clinic hours so I’m not paying to heat and light the rooms all week. It will also give me two complete days to work as a locum for the NHS if I need to supplement my income.

Should costs jump up ridiculously again in January, I may be forced to review this further but please rest assured I will fight hard to stay affordable.

Apologies, the clinic is closed today as we’re taking a short break to the south coast to watch Kelly take part in the field gun trials at HMS Collingwood.

We’re staying at a lovely hotel called the Alverbank, full of character and right on the shore line. What a lovely way to wake up :)

Our Little Clinic

After graduating from Plymouth University I was privileged to be able to work in the beautiful areas of mid Somerset, east Devon and the Jurassic coast area of Dorset, in both private practice and for the NHS. Commuting for and hour and half each way seemed a terrible waste of my time, and although famous around the blackdown hills, I was unknown in the area in which I lived. So when the opportunity presented itself to buy my own clinic in Plymouth. I jumped at the chance. And here it is...Our little clinic in the heart of Colebrook village in Plympton. Please do come and visit us if you’re passing, we always have the kettle on!
