✨Dawn from Ocean's Breeze Counselling explains how grief can be experienced in so many ways and how this can change over time. If you have experienced loss and looking for a safe and understanding place to process your grief, then get in touch with Dawn who is ready to support you at Plympton Therapy Rooms.✨
Grief doesn’t follow a timeline.
You might feel it immediately — a deep, overwhelming wave that changes everything in an instant.
Or it might arrive quietly, months or even years later, catching you off guard in moments you didn’t expect.
There is no “right” way or time to grieve.
Sometimes, you don’t get the space to process a loss when it happens.
You might have needed to stay strong for others — supporting children, family, or those around you.
Or life may have demanded your attention in other ways, leaving you in survival mode, just trying to keep going day by day.
And so, your grief gets placed somewhere internal.
Held. Contained. Put in a box so you can function.
For some people, loss doesn’t come one at a time.
It comes in waves, one after another, before there has been any chance to pause, to feel, to make sense of what’s happened.
If this resonates with you, you’re not doing grief “wrong.”
You’ve been coping in the only ways available to you at the time.
Grief doesn’t disappear just because it’s been set aside.
It waits — patiently, quietly — until there is enough safety, space, or stillness for it to be felt.
And when it does show up, whether that’s now or years from now, it is still valid.
There is no expiry date on loss.
No deadline for healing.
In my work, I’ve sat alongside many people navigating grief in all its forms — including when losses come close together, or when there hasn’t been time to process one before another arrives.
If you’re carrying something like this, you don’t have to hold it on your own.
I offer a space where your grief can be explored safely, at a pace that feels right for you.
No pressure. No expectations. Just support as you begin to make sense of what you’ve been holding.
