🧠 Mental Health Awareness Day – 10th October

This year’s theme, “Mental Health in Catastrophe and Emergency,” highlights how crucial it is to support mental wellbeing, especially during times of crisis.

At Glanville Environmental, we’re proud to be part of the conversation and to support this important initiative alongside our wider Adler & Allan Group.

We’re hosting sessions for our team to explore this vital topic and learn more about the support available through The Lighthouse Charity, of which we’re proud members.

We’ve also shared practical tips for managing overwhelm, because small steps can make a big difference.

Protecting Wildlife While Protecting Infrastructure

As part of our ongoing work with Kier in North Devon for the Environment Agency, our team is installing toe drains and French drains to help prevent erosion of the dam walls.

Current scope includes:
• Excavating for a northern V-ditch
• Constructing an in-situ head wall

During excavation, our team discovered an eel living in a surface water lateral. Thanks to close collaboration with Kier, the eel was safely rehomed into the nearby river system, a great example of how we balance infrastructure improvements with environmental care.

Following the discovery, we’ve:
✅ Updated our RAMS
✅ Delivered a toolbox talk to brief our teams
✅ Upgraded our pump filter system to prevent future wildlife encounters

Working in this industry means we’re always mindful of the ecosystems we operate in, and we’re proud to take action that protects them. 💚

🎉 We’re proud to support the future of grassroots football! ⚽

This year, Glanville Environmental partnered with GK316 Academy, a well-established and community-driven goalkeeper training group based in Exeter and East Devon. Led by the incredible Gillian, a UEFA B Licence GK coach and part of the Lionesses pathway, GK316 has been developing young goalkeepers aged 7–18 for over 13 years.

Our sponsorship is helping two inspiring young volunteers, Matilda and Evan, take their first steps toward becoming qualified UEFA GK coaches. Both are already giving back to the football community, coaching, refereeing, and supporting younger players, and now they’ll be able to gain their FA Introduction to Coaching, First Aid, and Safeguarding qualifications.

🦉 Wildlife Rescue on Site!
One of our CCTV crews came to the rescue of a Tawny Owl, suspected to have been hit by a vehicle overnight. The team made sure the owl was safe and later took it to the Secret World Wildlife Centre for a health check and observation. The owl is now in good hands and expected to be released soon.
👏 Huge thanks to Dave and the crew for their quick thinking and compassion!
