May pain cafes will focus on the theme of nutrition and inflammation so please feel free to bring ideas and recipes!

We will also be attending the Mental Health and Wellbeing Day at the Methodist Central Hall, Eastlake Street, Plymouth where there will be showcases of lots of local Mental Health support groups. Please come and check out Plymouth Mental Health Recovery and Empowerment Group CIC Marbleslostandfound Livewell Southwest Mind Improving Lives Plymouth Plymouth Mental Health Collective and anyone else I've forgotten (apologies).

We are looking forward to April and learning more about stress, trauma and the nervous system.
We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded grants from both sported and Devon Community Foundation to allow us to offer some of our sessions free or with minimum contribution. Their help is deeply appreciated.
If you are able to contribute to costs it helps keep the cafes running, especially as we are volunteering some of our time but incurring business costs. Thank you!

Hi, I'm Myf and I offer foot reflexology or Indian head massage at Wonford where I'll be returning on Thursday 30th April. An hour session starts with a consult to check general health then with client reclined, I apply gentle massage & alternating pressures to certain reflex points on the feet. Indian head massage lasts about 45 mins @ £30 members, £40 non members. Both therapies are suitable for most people leaving them feeling calm & relaxed in mind & body. Tuesdays may be an alternative so please contact me if that is more suitable.

Pain & The Nervous System

✨ Mindset Shift
Your body is not broken — it is protective.

Chronic pain is often your nervous system trying to keep you safe, not evidence that you are damaged or failing.

Pain is real.
But it is also influenced by stress, fear, fatigue, and emotions.

Understanding this softens self-blame.

🧘 Mindfulness Tool – The Safety Breath

Try this once or twice today:

• Inhale gently through your nose for 4 seconds
• Pause briefly
• Exhale slowly for 6–8 seconds

Long, slow exhales tell your nervous system:

"You are safe right now."

No forcing. No perfect breathing.

💚 Encouragement

If your pain feels unpredictable, remember:

Your body is responding, not betraying.

You are not fighting your body —
you are learning its language.
