We’re incredibly proud to share that Gemma, our amazing Deputy Manager at Trenant House, has been named Employee of the Year at the Plymouth Community Awards 2025!

The Plymouth Community Awards celebrate those who inspire through compassion, resilience, and dedication to making a difference — and Gemma truly embodies all of these qualities. Her compassion and positivity shine through every day, inspiring her team and ensuring every resident feels valued, supported, and cared for. 💛

The awards ceremony took place last night (Saturday 11th October) at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth, where Gemma was joined by Louise, Registered Manager at Trenant House, and Stacey, Registered Manager at Bethany House — representing the Karlyon Care Ltd family with pride.

We couldn’t be prouder of Gemma for this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations, Gemma — your dedication makes a difference every single day!

Our lovely residents had a wonderful time this week taking part in a flower arranging activity. The room was full of colour, creativity, and smiles as everyone designed their own beautiful displays.

Activities like these not only bring joy but also encourage relaxation, social connection, and a real sense of achievement. We’re so proud of the stunning arrangements our residents created — true works of art!

Last week we celebrated our lovely Joy’s 90th Birthday with the most wonderful pink-themed party.

Surrounded by friends, laughter, and love, Joy shone as brightly as ever.

A huge thank you to our amazing catering team for creating such a beautiful (and delicious!) pink cake that made the day even sweeter 🎂💗

𝖬𝖺𝗋𝖼𝗁𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗂𝗇 𝖧𝗂𝗀𝗁 𝖲𝗉𝗂𝗋𝗂𝗍𝗌 𝖺𝗍 𝖳𝖺𝗆𝖺𝗋𝖺 𝖧𝗈𝗎𝗌𝖾!

Our residents had the joy of watching the Freedom Parade as it passed right outside our home in Torpoint today.

Led by the Band of the Royal Marines, around 350 service personnel from HMS Raleigh proudly marched from Thanckes Park to the Ferry Lanes, with flags flying and bayonets fixed. 🇬🇧

This annual tradition celebrates the right of HMS Raleigh to march through the town — an honour first granted on December 11, 1996. It’s always a highlight in Torpoint’s calendar, and our residents loved being part of the atmosphere and cheering on the parade.

A wonderful community moment, bringing history, pride, and music right to our doorstep.

🥖🥣🥖𝖢𝗋𝗎𝗌𝗍 𝖴𝗌, 𝖳𝗁𝖾𝗒 𝖳𝗎𝗋𝗇𝖾𝖽 𝖮𝗎𝗍 𝖣𝖾𝗅𝗂𝖼𝗂𝗈𝗎𝗌! 🥖🥣🥖

Our wonderful residents spent the day making delicious bread rolls completely from scratch. From kneading the dough, to proofing, to the lovely smell of fresh bread baking – it was a joy to see (and taste!).

Once ready, the rolls were enjoyed with hearty homemade soup and some tasty cheese fillings. There’s nothing quite like the comfort of freshly baked bread shared together. 💛

A big thank you to everyone who got stuck in – the smiles said it all!

With hundreds of incredible entries this year, it’s a real achievement to be recognised among the very best. Gemma’s dedication, hard work, and compassion truly make a difference every single day — and we couldn’t be prouder to see her efforts celebrated.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 11th October, and we’ll be cheering Gemma on all the way!

Our residents at Bethany House have enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with visits to the beautiful Saltram Estate. From exploring the magnificent Georgian mansion to strolling through tranquil gardens and soaking up the peaceful views across the River Plym, every visit has been a delight. 🌸

The rolling parkland and calm surroundings have given us all the chance to enjoy nature, history, and each other’s company. 💛

Our lovely Janet from Balmain Care Home enjoyed a delicious cappuccino and slice of cake while relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of Devonport Park today.

It was wonderful to see her soaking up the sunshine, fresh air, and a little bit of indulgence – simple moments that bring so much joy. 💕
