The deadline for the UK School Dog of The Year Award 2025 is fast approaching (31st of January)... hurry up, and enter your school dog today!!

We had a lovely Christmassy session with the children at the primary school today! All the children enjoyed making Christmas cards with Ebony and drawing around her foot on the inside of the card!
All the children took their cards home with them afterwards!
Ebony also wore her festive Christmas jumper specially for the occasion!
This was the last session today before the children break up for Christmas so it was nice to see them all and wish them a Merry Christmas!
Ebony is now having a well deserved break before coming back for the spring term!

Ebony had fun at the primary school again today! The children spent some time brushing Ebony and doing tricks and scentwork but they also all enjoyed doing some worksheets!
Ebony sat and watched as the children did a word search or a spot the difference!

Ebony had a great time at the primary school again today!

Ebony thoroughly enjoyed it when the children hid a treat around the library while she waited outside. Then the children helped her find all the hidden treats when she was allowed back into the room

Today Ebony had a great time with the children at the primary school.

They all had a go at using a stethoscope to listen to Ebony’s heart beat!

Here is Ebony leaving the school after her sessions.

It’s really important that therapy dogs are calm when walking and don’t pull on the lead or barge through doors and gates.

Here we can see Ebony calmly waiting for the gate to open before walking through! Ebony is really great at listening to her handler Frankie and through her training she has learned to wait at gates and doors - an important skill that’s required for therapy dogs 🐾

Ebony had a great day at the primary school yesterday.

Ebony worked with 4 groups of children and each group had a go at brushing Ebony’s teeth!! 🦷🪥 We used a doggy toothbrush and some special dog toothpaste! We also talked about why it’s important to brush our teeth and why it’s important to brush our dogs teeth too!

We always keep the children in small groups with no more than 5-6 children in each group so as not to overwhelm Ebony. We also always keep Ebony’s contact time to a maximum of one hour before she has a break. These are the guidelines as set out by Therapy Dog Training UK and are designed to keep Ebony happy during her time in school. This ensures that both the children and Ebony are able to get the most from our sessions and keeping the dogs welfare at the forefront of the sessions.

Thanks again to Therapy Dog Training UK for their guidance and support with Ebony and Frankie’s training. They have enabled to us feel confident we are providing a safe and dog welfare conscious service to the schools we visit.

Back to school today!!
Ebony had her first day back at work today at our regularly primary school!
It was also the first day back for the children today!
The children were all very excited to see Ebony after their summer break! She had clearly missed them too as her tail was wagging non stop!
The children enjoyed some time brushing Ebony and doing tricks with her in the library!
We are looking forward to next week and meeting with some new children next time!!
Well done Ebony - such a great start to the new term! 👏🐾
