Never neglect your mental health over your physical health.

As important as we may think our physical goals are, we must remember to keep our mental health number one.

Take some time this weekend to check in on yourself, and if you're doing good, check in on someone else.

We're all battling to create the best versions of ourselves but it isn't a race. It's a process in which we must recognise how far we have come to get to this place.

Whatever you're doing this weekend, enjoy yourself and surround yourself with things or people that make you smile.

A few of you have been really enjoying my classes recently so I thought I’d post this to share with the rest of you.

TABATA training: breaks a workout down into defined intervals. Usually 20 seconds of a push-it-to-the-limit exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest.

EMOM stands for every minute on the minute. It’s also a type of interval workout where you perform a specific exercise at the start of every minute for a set amount of time (in this case 12 minutes).

Finisher - clues in the name. Just a couple of exercises to finish the session.

Monday motivation 🙌🏼

What are your goals this week? Have you put the right tools in place to help you achieve them?

We can always make it easier for ourselves to reach goals, even if that’s just a change in overall attitude.

Instead of telling yourself “I can’t” tell yourself “I’ll try my hardest”. The way we speak to ourselves has a huge impact on our outcome.

Start this week strong 💪

Preventing a “butt-wink” while squatting.

What is a butt wink? This is when the pelvis ‘tucks’ and posterior tilts during the bottom of the squat.

When the lumbar spine is forced into flexion while under load it can cause low back pain.

The two main reasons a butt-wink occurs is either a stability issue or mobility issue.

Here my client took the squat to a parallel position to lessen the amount of flexion.

By doing this the lumbar spine wasn’t taken to near end-range flexion which prevented the butt wink. Deep squats are not always the way for everyone, but getting to a parallel position is still great depth.

Other ways to fix:

•Strengthen the core
•Focus on ankle mobility
•Activate glutes
•Start with light weight

And what happens when we fail?!

We get back up and smash the sh*t out of it.

Failure is a necessary and inevitable part of life. If we do not fail, we will never learn how to pick ourselves back up and become stronger because of it.

Incredibly proud of for jumping straight back in and securing this clean 👏🏼👏🏼 solid work as always.
