Your Role

🔹 Structural repairs & alterations on a variety of metals and thicknesses

What We’re Looking For

✅ Fabrication experience in marine or related industries
✅ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
✅ Safe, responsible work ethic
✅ Experience with Royal Navy ships, RFA vessels, or large commercial ships is preferred

Essential Qualifications (One of the Following Required):

🔹 Indentured Apprenticeship in a relevant trade
🔹 Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in fabrication, sheet metal, or structural steel
🔹 Level 3 Engineering Qualification in a related discipline
🔹 SC Security Clearance eligibility required

Work Schedule & Contract Details

📅 6-month contract (initially)
⏰ Monday-Thursday: 07:30-15:30 | Friday: 07:30-12:30

We currently have contract work in Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth for a 26-week contract working on ships, submarines and within a factory environment.

Skills:
• Proficiency in one or more welding techniques: FCAW, MMA, MIG, TIG
• Be able to undertake regular welding requalification to meet required standards.

Essential Experience:
• You will need the ability to read engineering drawings, to interpret work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop tools & machinery specific to welding.
• Ideally you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience from other engineering sectors will be considered.
• Experience of working within marine engineering environment.
Qualifications:
• Time served apprentice within the field of marine engineering / naval engineering environment.
• Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role.
• Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship.
• Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role.

Ability to obtain and hold SC Clearance and undergo a Basic DBS check required for this role

35 hours with possible overtime available.

Pay: PAYE £15.43 UMBRELLA £20.84 per hour + travel allowance if applicable over 36 miles.

We also have Electrical & Mechanical Fitters, Principal Architect, Slingers, Fabricators, CNC Machinist, Craft Painters, FLT Driver (2 year contract) based in Devonport Dockyard Plymouth.
Other roles we are actively recruiting for are: CNC Setter, Quality Engineer, Materials & Inventory Chain Controller and Process Engineer all based in Plymouth.
