Today marks a new chapter in the optimisation and delivery of health and care research in England, with the launch of the National Institute for Health and Care Research's new Research Delivery Network (that’s us!) 👋🏼
We were set up to respond to the changing requirements of health and care research. We’ve taken over from the NIHR Clinical Research Network, and our ambition is to help make the UK a more attractive place to conduct high quality research.
As a unified network, we'll work together to make sure our systems are aligned, and that our talent and resources are deployed nationally, for maximum effect.
Watch this space today to find out more about who we are, what we do, and how we’ll be working to deliver key UK government research priorities!

As we prepare to transition to the new NIHR Research Delivery Network, we are taking the chance to celebrate the impact the Clinical Research Network SWP has made in so many areas of research over the last 10 years, and to say thank you.
The Network has been able to deliver so many high quality research opportunities to organisations, individuals and patients and public because of its strong partnerships with local stakeholders across the region. All our NHS partner provider organisations have been research active, we have a thriving primary care research environment, and research delivery across social care, public health and community settings has grown thanks to new and supportive collaborations.
Our collaborations have also involved South West universities, other NIHR infrastructure, the Health Innovation Network and most recently voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations. To everyone who has worked with us over the last 10 years, and perhaps most importantly the patients and public who have helped shape our work and participated in research, we say thank you - your contribution will continue to improve health and care for current and future generations.
For , our Lead Dr Ashish Kotecha shared his thoughts on the importance of encouraging overseas-trained international medical graduates to consider making part of their career.
If you'd like to find out more about clinical research and how you can get involved, the National Institute for Health and Care Research Exeter Clinical Research Facility is having an open day next week. All welcome! Details below⬇️
