Its 5pm on Friday and our volunteers are about to begin 62 hours of continuous Blood Bike service provision to the NHS in Devon and beyond if needed!

No matter what time of day or night it is or what the weather has decided to do this weekend, our volunteer riders, drivers and controllers will answer the call for support when it comes!

Our blood bike service is provided completely free of charge to the NHS and we rely on the generous donations of our supporters, local businesses, community groups, grants and volunteer fundraising, so that we can continue to support those who ask for our help.

An inquiry has been launched into the accounts of lifesaving charity Devon Freewheelers which will also look at conflicts of interest and if it has been operating in line with its objectives

Fuel, along with maintenance is one of South West Blood Bikes biggest expenses.

As the demand for our services continues to grow, we are finding that high mileage days are becoming more frequent.

Yesterday our volunteers covered 602 miles in our liveried vehicles, an incredible 342 of those were driven by volunteer Ben from our North Devon Team. We also estimated that another 200 miles were covered by volunteers in their own vehicles!
