✨Not every spot is a pimple✨

A pimple forms when a pore gets blocked with oil and bacteria. It’s usually superficial, may have a white or yellow head, and settles within a few days.

A cyst is different. It’s a deeper, closed sac under the skin, often filled with keratin. It feels firmer, doesn’t have a visible head, and doesn’t resolve on its own.

If a “spot” lasts for weeks, feels deep, or keeps coming back in the same place, it’s more likely a cyst than a pimple — and may need proper treatment.

How to examine a mole for signs of melanoma

Most moles are harmless, but it’s worth getting into the habit of checking your skin.

A simple way to remember what to look for is the ABCDE rule:

* A — Asymmetry: one side doesn’t match the other
* B — Border: edges are uneven, blurred, or irregular
* C — Colour: different shades within the same mole
* D — Diameter: larger than about 6 mm (but can be smaller)
* E — Evolving: any change in size, shape, colour, or symptoms

Also pay attention to anything that looks different from your other moles, starts itching, bleeding, or changing over time.
