Hey all, doing a flurry of social media today, starting with a reminder about Saturday's PHSS (Plymouth Hypermobility Support & Sharing) meeting. PHSS is Nic's monthly support group for Hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. The session is this Saturday - the 26th - from 11-1. Contach Nic for more info - details on the image. Here's some more info about the session:
Join Nic in a safe and often joyful environment to talk about living with Hypermobilty Spectrum Disorder, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobile EDS. The room is on the ground floor, and can accommodate people with some mobility limitations, but is not wheelchair accessible. If wheelchair access is needed, get in touch and we'll try to work out how to adapt to that need. The group has recently received a grant from Councillor Jemima Laing. Thanks to cllr Laing's kind donation, the rent for the session is now paid until August of 2025. Nic is still happy to accept donations on a pay-what-you-can basis. Your donations will help fund literature and other materials for the group, and go toward guaranteeing another year of sessions after this one. Nic has a wealth of information about these conditions, and currently has a few copies of Claire Smith's book 'Understanding Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder' available to purchase. As a Yoga teacher, Nic has 30 years of teaching experience in Plymouth, with a particular focus on breathing. Since she started the PHSS group, she's had some positive developments in her own journey with EDS/HSD, including a recent referral onto clinical genetics for genetic screening. She started this group because of the pain and other symptoms she experiences, the impact it's having on her life, and the struggles she's faced getting a diagnosis and being taken seriously about these issues and their root cause. For further info, queries, extra needs, or to chat about your own situation, call Nic on 01752 569673, or email her at nic@evanonrev.co.uk Nic wants to emphasise that this group is non-hierarchical in nature - everyone suffering from a hypermobility condition has a story to tell and knowledge to bring to the table, so it's her goal to create an environment where sharing is key, and everyone can learn from each other.
