Before and after excision of a cyst on the forearm of an 80-year-old lady 🩺

The lump had been slowly increasing in size over time and felt firm on examination. A formal excision was carried out in clinic, and the sample was sent for histology.

Results confirmed a proliferating pilar cyst — an unusual appearance clinically, but benign pathology.

Final scar shown at 3 months post-op.

Yes. Everything starts with a consultation to assess the lesion and decide on the safest approach. If appropriate, the procedure can be carried out in clinic.

All samples are sent for histology to Derriford Hospital, so you have a confirmed diagnosis and peace of mind.
