“If you wouldn’t trust just anyone with your heart… why trust just anyone with your face?”

This week’s headlines are hard to ignore:
28 people hospitalised after counterfeit Botox.
Paralysis. Breathing issues. ER visits.

All from treatments done by non clinical injectors, in unregulated settings.

Here’s the truth:
💉 UK regulated prescribed neuromodulator medications (like Botox) are safe.

⚠️ These are prescription medications, not a beauty product, and recent legislation means you must meet the prescribing clinician before having your treatment.

🛑 ️How to keep safe:

Know your aesthetic practitioner’s qualifications: can they prescribe?
Doctors and dentists can prescribe. Some nurses and pharmacists can.

If your injector can’t prescribe (and there are loads of AWESOME non prescribing aesthetics practitioners out there), they won’t be able to access safe neuromodulator medicines (like Botox) unless you meet their prescriber.

If you’re worried, you can ask to see the medication that is being delivered to check that it’s the brand you’re expecting.
