My name is Julie Fifield, and I am an experienced, Person-Centred Counsellor, working at The Garden Room Counselling Practice in Plymouth.
I offer face-to-face counselling for individuals. I will provide you with a welcoming, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can safely explore the events and situations you have experienced that led you to this point in your life. I will help you heal your shame, discover your worth and embrace who you are.
I work with adults who are living with the legacy of growing up in a dysfunctional family with inappropriate and inadequate parenting.
I work with adults who have self-esteem and shame related difficulties.
The people I see are often feeling angry, anxious, depressed and worthless. They have difficulties with developing and maintaining meaningful relationships, procrastination, setting personal boundaries, perfectionism, people pleasing, and getting their own needs met.
My Philosophy.
I believe that everyone has the desire to be the best version of themselves they can be. They want the freedom to be their authentic self, and to feel loved and accepted. And when they are thwarted by the experiences they have in life it causes pain, fear and dysfunction.
I subscribe to the philosophy of Carl R Rogers that states that when an individual is given the optimum conditions for growth she/he will grow. Just as a seed will grow into a tree if the sufficient conditions for growth are present.
I believe every person has the right to be heard, accepted, and valued.
