Beacon Medical Group

Beacon Medical Group Beacon Medical Group is providing forward thinking innovative patient care, setting the standards for others to follow in Plymouth and South Hams Area.

Beacon Medical Group was formed in April 2014 when three groups of family doctors agreed to merge to form one single practice. Each practice had a strong foundation of supporting their local community for decades but wanted to enhance their offer - to provide additional services and to secure a service for many years to come. Early on, Beacon introduces new groundbreaking services which provided faster access to help and at times bringing traditional hospital services out to the community. Our Urgent Care Team for example has meant that we have offered 10% more appointments to our community. If you want to help or have any comments or suggestions please do get in touch.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, and recognising symptoms early can make a real difference.

Symptoms may include difficulty p*eing, a weak flow, needing to p*e more often (especially at night), discomfort in the pelvic area or blood in urine/semen. If you notice changes, talk to your GP and tell them about any family history of cancer - not just immediate family, as broader history can help guide decisions about checks and referral.

Public figures like Sir Chris Hoy have also shared their cancer journeys to help raise awareness and encourage conversations about men’s health. 💙🩺✨

We absolutely love hearing from you — your feedback truly brightens our day and inspires our team.

In February, we received a letter of appreciation from one of our patients, and we’re delighted to share their words with you:

“A quick note to thank you and your member of staff who saw me for my recent NHS Health Check. The staff member I saw was extremely relatable, and her approach and manner of giving advice were so human, balanced, and mature. I found it very easy to take on board and put into place the changes she suggested. I have had a very positive and helpful experience.”

Messages like this remind us why we do what we do — and how much compassionate, patient‑centred care matters.

If you’ve also received a great service from a member of our team and would like to share your experience, we would love to hear from you.
Please email us at d-icb.patientliaison@nhs.net.

Your kindness keeps us motivated — thank you for helping us make Beacon a brighter place for everyone.
