Beyond Limits

Beyond Limits Beyond Limits, pushing the boundaries of conventional support. Social justice not just social care All Behaviour is communication.

We are a relatively new organisation based in Devon providing personalised support. Our mission is to change the face of services for vulnerable people and those at risk of exclusion. We relish working with people who have been labelled as 'challenging' and have much experience in this field having been set up on the back of Partners for Inclusion a Scottish organisation that has been working in a

n individualised, person centred way for the last 15 years. By individualising the service we provide we are immediately treating people with respect and putting the power of how they wish to live their lives in their own hands. This in itself goes part way reducing any so called 'challenging behaviour, which is a method by which people tell us they are not happy. Each person we support has their own staff team, employed by them and for them, they have a place to live that they call home and where they chose who, if anyone, they share this home with. Each person has an individual ring fenced pot of money which is used as an Individual Service Fund (ISF) to meet their needs and wishes. This might include to pay for staff support, to get short breaks, to join a club where they can develop skills and meet people or for anything else that might help them achieve a great life (good outcomes).

๐ŸŒฟ Staff Retreat Time! ๐ŸŒฟ

We recently gathered at the beautiful Elfordleigh Hotel for our annual Beyond Limits Retreat, a day packed with reflection, learning, big ideas, and lots of fun!

Led by the brilliant Karen Mason, we dived into self-leadership, explored what it means to be a thinking organisation, and reflected on how we can each play a part in shaping a positive and future-focused workplace ๐Ÿš€

There were honest conversations, creative challenges, team connection moments, and lots of fresh thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿค

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Sue Caunter. Sue was a much-loved and respected member of the Beyond Limits team, whose warmth, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the people we support touched so many lives. Sue was a true advocate for our values and a constant source of strength and kindness to many.

Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences go out to Sue's family, friends, and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. ๐Ÿ–ค

๐ŸŒ World Food Day at Beyond Limits! ๐Ÿด

We came together for a special day filled with amazing flavours from across the globe! Everyone brought a dish representing their culture, family heritage, or simply something from a country they love. We enjoyed delicious dishes from Portugal, Pakistan, Algeria, Guinea, Japan, Canada, Morocco, Switzerland, and Turkey; the variety was incredible!

The celebration was about more than food; it was about sharing stories, culture, and values that connect us all. We wrapped up with a fun and friendly food quiz, where Sodiq, Rachel, and Adrian showed off their impressive knowledge and took home the win! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽ‰

Thanks to everyone who joined in and made this day so memorable. Hereโ€™s to celebrating diversity through food and friendship! ๐ŸŒŸโค๏ธ

Camโ€™s Cheddar Adventure ๐Ÿงณ๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŽฎ

Cam recently enjoyed a fantastic break at Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa, his second short break this year!

He spent his time relaxing, exploring, and having fun, from chilling in the hot tub and going on scenic walks to flexing at the gym ๐Ÿ’ช and whipping up delicious meals like pasta bakes and fry-ups ๐Ÿณ.

While he was away, there was a surprise waiting for him back home his mum arranged a stunning living room makeover! ๐ŸŒŸA new feature wall, and a comfy cuddle chair (all hand-picked by Cam) now make his home an even more relaxing space to enjoy his favorite shows and games.

A well-deserved, joy-filled getaway for Cam! ๐Ÿกโค๏ธ

We are supporting Mental Health Awareness week which is running until the 18th May. The focus this year is on community. We know from our own experience, supporting people who in the past have been isolated from their communities, how important community is. Communities provide natural opportunities for giving and receiving help which boosts self-esteem and creates positive feedback. Why not do one thing this week to to support a community where you are. You could get to know your neighbours, help a friend, or even a stranger out or reconnect with family or friends.

On the 1st June Ricky and a couple of members of his team will be completing the Race for Life. It would really spur them all on if people could donate, any amount at all, no amount is too small when it comes to combatting Cancer. We probably all know someone who has been affected and lets face it, for most of us, donating a few pounds is a dam sight easier than running the race ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ click on the link and give what you can.

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UKโ€™s groundbreaking work.
