Poles APart AP - Alternative Education Provision Poles APart AP is an Alternative Education Provision based in Devon and Cornwall. We are built on passion and genuine care for the students we work with.

We cater for ages 4-18 and have centres in Plymouth, Exeter, Bodmin and Tiverton. Poles APart AP is an alternative provision with a difference and we are proud to be working with young people aged 4-18 across Devon and Cornwall. As a provision and a staff team, we genuinely love what we do and appreciate how rewarding it is to know we are changing the lives of the young people in our care. We aim

to allow students to reset, reflect, and re-engage, thereby giving them the confidence to positively change their pathway, which in turn supports them in leading happy and successful lives.

Thanks to some incredibly kind donations, our students have had the chance to get hands on with some fantastic pieces of old technology for our ‘Tech through Time’ topic! From old TVs and cameras to console players, a Game Boy, and more! 📺

Thank you to everyone who donated. You have made this topic so much more exciting and memorable for our students! 💛

And the tech theme doesn't stop there…our Bodmin students have also been exploring a brilliant display at Bodmin Library all about old military technology, which has tied in perfectly with what we have been learning.📚

As always, it’s been a brilliant week at forest school!

This week our students have been whittling, helping to maintain the area, cooking steak and eggs on the fire 🥩🍳, bravely trying fried nettles, spending some lovely time with the farm animals and so much more! 🐄🦆

To us, getting active is about so much more than physical health! 🌿

Whether it is golf, fishing, or a trip to the park, these sessions are a vital part of what we offer. They support positive mental health and wellbeing, help our students build genuine relationships, and give young people the chance to connect with each other in the most natural way possible. 💛

Sometimes the most valuable moments happen on a riverbank or a golf course and we would not have it any other way! ⛳🎣

🌊 One of the things we truly believe in at Poles is that learning can happen absolutely anywhere and our Bodmin teacher Craig is a master at making it happen!

During a recent visit to Fistral beach, students found themselves discussing the significance of beach flags, how the moon controls our tides, and getting an unexpected and brilliant Q&A session with a local lifeguard. 🏄 Erosion, persuasive devices spotted in the real world, and even measurement (inspired by a height clearance sign along the way) all made their way into the conversation too! 📏

The students were so engaged they probably didn't even realise how much learning was happening. That is the best part!💛

🍽️ Our students have been absolutely smashing it in the kitchen this week!

Our Exeter students made a stunning lasagne completely from scratch 🍝, Tiverton have been showcasing their baking skills with a beautiful Victoria sponge 🎂, and over in Bodmin things got a little competitive with a Battle of the Pancakes - crepe vs scotch! 🥞

🔨 Construction sessions are officially up and running in Exeter and what a way to start!

Our first project? A custom designed and built bridge for our guinea pigs! 🐾 From planning and designing to picking up the tools and bringing it to life, our student has really thrown themselves into this!
