📢 Emergency Alert Test – Sunday 7 September at 3:00 PM

On 7 September at 3:00 PM, the UK government will be testing the Emergency Alerts system. If you have a compatible mobile phone, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds.

This is only a test – you do not need to take any action.

Please let others know so they are not alarmed, especially those who may be sensitive to sudden loud noises.

🌍✨ Happy International Makaton Day! ✨🌍

At Positive Steps, we’re proud to celebrate the power of Makaton – a unique language programme that uses signs, symbols, and speech to make communication accessible for everyone. 💬🙌

A few of our service users use Makaton to communicate, and for them it makes a huge difference — supporting independence, building confidence, and helping them to express their thoughts, needs, and personalities. 💛

To make sure we can communicate with each other in the best way possible, our staff and service users learn a new Makaton sign every week 👐📖. This not only helps us support people better, but also strengthens our team, encourages inclusion, and makes everyday moments more meaningful.

We’ve chosen the song “Unstoppable” because it is so true to all of the people that use our service – strong, resilient, and unstoppable in everything they do! 🎶💪

Makaton isn’t just about signs and symbols — it’s about connection, opportunity, and giving everyone a voice. Every sign we learn is a step towards a more inclusive and supportive community. 🌟

🎉 Celebrating Progress! 🎾

We are so proud of one of our amazing service users, Alex who has continued to shine since being awarded Nuffield's Member of the Month in June. 🌟

He has shown incredible dedication to improving his tennis skills and the results speak for themselves!

Not only can he now return the ball confidently over the net, but he can do this multiple times in a row. 🙌

This is such a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of his hard work, determination, and enthusiasm. 💪👏
