As a parent, it can be hard to see your child struggling with anxiety. Anxiety can manifest itself in different ways, such as separation anxiety, school stress, fears and phobias, and social anxiety. Fortunately, hypnotherapy has proven to be an effective treatment for anxiety in children.

If your child is experiencing anxiety, hypnotherapy can help them develop coping mechanisms and build resilience. Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that involves inducing a trance-like state in which the child is more open to suggestion and positive affirmations. During hypnotherapy sessions, children learn techniques to manage their stress, calm their mind, and regain control of their emotions.

As a practitioner of hypnotherapy, I specialise in working with children from the age of 7 to help them overcome their anxiety. I work with a child-centered approach, ensuring that the child feels comfortable, safe, and heard throughout the therapy session. Hypnotherapy sessions are tailored to the child's needs, interests, and abilities, making it a highly personalised and effective treatment.

A hug can be worth a thousand words; as you melt in the warmth of a loved ones embrace.
Your head deeply embedded in their clavicle, and arms wrapped around them tightly; as you relish in the familiarity of their scent.

One of the most frequently used non-verbal behaviours is embracing, commonly used as an expression of love and affection.
Hugging can release oxytocin; a hormone secreted by the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
Hugging can literally deepen your relationship another person on a biochemical level.

Oxytocin acts on the limbic system; promoting feelings of contentment and bonding whilst reducing anxiety.
The oxytocin release that comes with a warm embrace can cause a decrease in the stress hormones cortisol and norepinephrine.

When you hug someone, it can release endorphins, which activate regions of the brain associated with reward. This makes us want to repeat the experience.

Hugging can also increase levels of dopamine and serotonin, both involved in regulating our emotional responses and reward circuit in the brain.

When someone touches you, pressure receptors within your skin are stimulated; which fire signals to your vagus nerve.
An embrace feels good as the vagus nerve is involved in processes that promote calmness and relaxation, such as lowering blood pressure.
