We can’t believe it’s been nearly three weeks since our wonderful audiologist Emma visited Beaumont Care Home in Stamford Bridge. We’re still smiling from the experience!

Supporting residents and the local village community with ear wax checks and ear health advice is exactly why we love what we do. Hearing that Emma made everyone feel at ease, especially those who were feeling nervous, truly means the world to us.

Last week we saw a really powerful article from BBC News

Caris Lount has lived with tinnitus since childhood, experiencing constant ringing that can be frightening and overwhelming.

Around one in seven adults in the UK live with tinnitus, which can take many forms and have varied causes.

Through creative projects, mindfulness and everyday activities, Caris has learned to manage the condition and says it has helped build her mental strength and resilience.

The deaf charity RNID estimates about one in seven adults have tinnitus.

We are starting the week with something a little different from the creators of Pepper Pig!

They are set to address the topic of hearing loss in children, with George Pig receiving a life-changing diagnosis.

In an upcoming episode, George will be diagnosed as moderately deaf and fitted with a hearing aid, with Gladiator Jodie Ounsley, known to fans as Fury, taking on the role of his audiologist.

This is a brilliant example of inclusive storytelling. 👏👏👏

The upcoming storyline, which has been developed in partnership with the National Deaf Children’s Society, will air on Milkshake from March 9.

Earlier this week Rebecca was warmly welcomed at Meadowbeck Care Home - Barchester Healthcare , where she gave an engaging and informative talk for residents and visitors all about ear health care. She covered everything from wax removal and looking after your hearing, to getting the best from hearing aids.

There were lots of great questions, plenty of chats, and residents even had their ears checked on the day, with personalised advice and hearing aid repairs provided too. It was lovely to see so much interest and engagement from everyone there.

A huge thank you to Meadowbeck for the warm welcome — we’re already looking forward to seeing you all again very soon! 😊👂✨

It's a great time to remind ourselves that protecting our hearing now helps prevent issues like tinnitus later.

Tinnitus affects millions in the UK with around 1 in 7 adults live with permanent tinnitus, and about 30% will experience it at some point in life.

Regular hearing checks, safe listening habits, and early support can make a real difference. If you’re in a noisy environment, turn the volume down, take breaks, and don’t ignore the signs.

Earlier in the week our Pocklington Audiology clinician Emma had the pleasure of attending Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home - Barchester Healthcare .

We are grateful to have the opportunity to support our local communities.

And in her own works she...

" had a truly lovely morning and felt so grateful for the very warm welcome I received. The coffee was flowing, the cakes were plentiful, and there was such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere throughout.

I had the pleasure of meeting wonderful members of staff, residents, family members, and people from the local community. It was especially lovely to see people of all ages attending the ear health clinic, which gave the morning a real sense of connection and inclusivity.

The home itself is a beautiful, warm, and welcoming environment, filled with natural light from the many lovely windows where the sunshine poured in. We spent time chatting about life and listening to the fascinating histories of some of the residents — including stories of how a couple of them came to Yorkshire from London after being relocated during the war.

It was genuinely a really special place to be, full of warmth, care, and community spirit.

I look forward to visiting again soon ."
