Julie’s son, Perran, proudly plays for Falmouth Cricket club. He started off in their youth teams and has worked his way through up to their first team.

We were delighted to welcome Kathy, Manager at Treswithian Downs, to the office on Wednesday for a chat and a little tour. Always lovely to chat to our colleagues on a more informal basis.

Great visit yesterday with Kingsley Tresidder local funeral director, situated in a beautiful part of Cornwall. Enjoyed the wonderful conversation around supporting our families, always delivering exceptional care in all we do. Also had the opportunity to have a tour and go through pictures of the building works that were undertaken to produce the beautiful premises they have now and the history behind it.

For the last 12 years, I (Julie), have held the role of Secretary of the Cornwall Area Federation of the National Association of Funeral Directors.

Part of this role is arranging guest speakers, which means I get to meet lots of lovely members of various organisations and charities.

I'm going to start doing a little feature on our charity speakers from now on, as I think it's important to highlight, and raise awareness, of different causes and the work they do.

Our latest guest speaker was Tim Guy of AGE UK Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Tim is based at the Falmouth Hub and is very passionate about promoting the charity and the work they do in the community.

There are three hubs in Cornwall based at Falmouth, St. Austell and Newquay.

They provide a tremendous amount of support to improve the lives of older people in the Community. They also provide assistance to the younger generation too, offering free advice and support to those aged 18 or over.

Attached is a leaflet that Tim provided at the meeting detailing the various services they offer.

They are always looking for volunteers, so if you are able to give a little time to help, they would be ever so grateful.

In particular there is the Falmouth Befriending Service where they are reliant on volunteers to help tackle loneliness and isolation for people in the Falmouth and Penryn Community. They have a page if you are interested in learning more.

Please use the contact details on the bottom of the attached leaflet if you think you may be able to spare a little time to help, or have any questions.

They would also be very grateful if families would bear them in mind when choosing a charity to receive donations as they are reliant on legacies, and fundraising to provide this continued support.

Taking five minutes at the office this morning to appreciate the November sun bringing out the autumnal colours in the trees, whilst listening to the lovely bird song. The photos don’t quite do the colours justice. It is such a beautiful setting here and so peaceful.

We are thoughtfully developing an outside space where visitors can pause, reflect, and find a moment of peace. More photos to follow.
