DID YOU KNOW !!! ? 🤔💭

Some muscles in your legs work across two joints instead of just one.
These are called bi-articular muscles, and they help your body move smoothly and efficiently when you walk, run, climb stairs, or get up from a chair etc .

One important example is the re**us femoris muscle, a muscle at the front of the thigh.
This muscle starts at the hip (its origin) and runs down to the knee.

Because of this unique position, the origin of the re**us femoris is highly susceptible to injury, which is one of the reasons this muscle is commonly strained or irritated.

Today (Sunday), I treated a gentleman who was in pain and keen to get back to work.
On certain occasions, and by appointment only, some of our therapists are willing to open up and treat even on a Sunday.

(Not many places will open up
on a Sunday but WE WILL 🙌 !!! )

After listening carefully to his history and how he may have caused the injury, it didn’t take long to identify the muscle involved. With the right hands-on treatment and clear guidance, I was able to set him on the road to recovery.

Listening, talking, and caring — while working out the biomechanics of a person’s problem — goes a long way in helping them restore quality of life and fitness.

This is a great reminder that pain isn’t always coming from where you feel it .
This is why hands on treatment is so important because over the years you gain a touch and feel for a problem, and it is very effective in aiding and helping the patients road to recovery, whereas just working with machines and exercises and rehab , we find that patients are getting disillusioned and for many years go around in circles and never get satisfaction which can lead to depression and destroys their quality of life in many ways, and in some cases their loved ones as well.
This cannot be called good quality of care 😢
Your body works as one connected system.

So look after it and enjoy your life because life is to short. ❤️‍🩹

After successfully treating business man Mr Dewey, he then recommended his son Philip Dewey for treatment to a back and neck problem.
After having approximately 6 sessions he’s now feeling much better after having treatment and rehabilitation, and is now back, successfully running his business.
Yet another very happy patient after visiting John Cox Health & Sports Therapy Practice.

John Cox Health & Sports Therapy Practice.
TOGETHER WE CAN — IT’S BEEN A LONG ROAD

After coming out of the army a long time ago, I did various jobs, each of which played a part in shaping who I am today.
I worked as a waiter at Rodger Thorpe Manor, also at ASDA Stores in South Elmsall, and at Frickley Colliery, both underground and later as a Medical Centre Attendant.

Working closely with doctors and nurses during that time gave me a grounding in healthcare, people, and responsibility — experiences that quietly laid the foundations for everything I have gone on to achieve in my career.

Following this, I gained a diploma through Premier Training and Development in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, where I was taught by a truly remarkable character, Norman Basson. RIP ❤️
Norman saw something in me and gave me the confidence to believe in myself and follow my dreams 🙌.
What a journey that was… (but a story for another day ❤️)

SPORTS THERAPY & PERSONAL TRAINING — WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

It all started with personal training, working with people from a converted bedroom on Bell Street, Upton.
With a small military background, my focus was simple — to help people get fitter, stronger, and better ❤️‍🩹.

Very quickly, I realised many people weren’t just looking to get fit — they were desperate for treatment, reassurance, and genuine hands-on care. Working with people from all different walks of life, I found my true calling. It wasn’t just about training — it was about getting people better and vastly improving their quality of life.

To do that properly, I needed to grow.
I needed bigger and better premises — and once again, the doubts arrived.

“Stop. It can’t be done.”

Thankfully, I didn’t listen.

What followed was the opening of a Health and Fitness Centre called Peak Fitness in Ackworth, alongside my late friend Niel Dickinson who I grew up with and had many many happy times ❤️🙏
Also builder Alan Nichols.
That fitness centre is still open to this day, something I remain incredibly proud of.

After that chapter, I realised it was time to move on again — this time, on my own.
Believe me, that step was very scary 🙌.

But off I went.

FROM HISTORY… TO DREAM… TO REALITY

The journey then led to a very old building — what was once Gibsons Farm, based in the heart of Upton near Pontefract.
A building full of history, character, and potential — even if, at the time, few could see what it might become.

A new dream followed — born from belief, hard work, 7 days a week, and a refusal to accept limits.
Some said it couldn’t be achieved, but through commitment, teamwork, and vision, that dream became a reality.

We now have and are proud to say that we have a client base of well over Ten Thousand people from all different walks of life and at any age 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️❤️‍🩹

Today, whether it’s your health, rehabilitation, foot care, or even a fresh haircut, you’re in the right place.
