HALF DAY CLOSURE - STAFF TRAINING
Due to staff training the Practice will be closed on Tuesday 24th March from 1pm onwards (Llangeinor and Bettws 12.30pm). We will reopen at 8.00am on Wednesday 25th March.
During closure time if you have a medical emergency, please call 999. If you have a medical concern that cannot wait until Wednesday 25th March, please call the usual surgery number and an alternative number will be available to our GP cover. You can call GP out of hours from 6.30pm on 111. Please remember you can use any pharmacy for access to advice for common ailments. Please note this service will not have access to your medical records and will not be able to issue repeat prescriptions.

Unfortunately a GP has been taken ill today so we have limited availability. Please we ask only to call if urgent issue that cannot wait. Please where possible use the Pharmacy minor ailment scheme or 111 for advice.

Due to GP illnesses in the practice, tomorrow Friday 13th Feb we will only be able to deal with the most Urgent cases. Please if possible only call the practice if an Emergency.
You can use Pharmacy service for Minor ailments and 111 for help and support.
We have already made plans for next week for cover so please bear with us.

Repeat Prescription Ordering Hub Closure

Important: Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board have made the decision to decommission the Repeat Prescription Ordering Hub. The planned date of closure is 30th April 2026.
We are strongly advising patients to ensure they are aware of other ways to order their repeat prescriptions before the anticipated closure.

How to order your repeat prescription

Option 1: Email the request (recommended method) please include your name, DOB and the items you require to-

Pontycymmer.prescriptions@wales.nhs.uk
Llangeinor.dispensary@wales.nhs.uk
Bettws.dispensary@wales.nhs.uk

Option 2: Repeat slip (paper request)

If you cannot use the internet (or someone cannot set this up on your behalf), then please;

Drop a repeat slip into the boxes in branch, or
Please speak to your local pharmacy team to find out if they offer any services that may support you, please note local
Pharmacies are not obliged to offer this service.

All repeat prescription requests currently take 72 hours to process.

We will not be able to take any repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

The Practice goes live on our new Clinical system tomorrow 05/02/2026. This is a completely new system for the majority of our GP's, Nurses and Staff. Therefore enquiries and appointments will take longer. Please bear with us over the next few days / weeks as we adjust to them. We will have fewer appointments over the next 2 days in particular so we are asking again to only call for Urgent Medical needs. We want to ensure we have enough appointments for those that need them the most.
Medical queries can be answered by calling 111 and Mental health needs by calling 111 option 2.

We advise for medical advise to call NHS 111 or 999 for life-threatening emergencies. PLEASE NOTE: Routine test results may be delayed, some medical records may be temporarily unavailable and the practice will contact patients to reschedule any appointments if needed. As previously announced we are moving clinical systems starting 30th January. As part of this transition we have temporarily turned off access to the NHS APP from today. The APP will be fully integrated with our new system and Digital Healthcare Wales are planning to have it available again 9th Feb. Thank you.
