The Reckoning of Skin and Soul

There’s a moment
you meet yourself.
Not in the mirror,
not in the flash of a photograph
with a fake smile,
but in the dead of night,
when the world has finally shut its mouth
and the only sound left
is the thud of your own heartbeat.

You’ll see it then—
the scars you tried to cover up
with laughter,
the cracks you painted over
with dreams
that weren’t even yours.

Self-discovery?
It’s not a neat epiphany,
not a golden revelation
handed down from the gods
wrapped in satin wisdom.
It’s a fistfight.
A brawl in the back alley of your soul
where you face every ghost
you tried to outrun,
where you ask the hard questions
and get answers that taste like blood.

Who are you
when the titles fall,
when the job fails,
when love is lost
and you’re left standing alone
with the wreckage of what’s left?

This is where you strip down
to the bone,
where you learn the art of forgiveness—
not for others,
but for the bruised thing inside you,
the you that cried and fought
and raged in silence,
thinking it was all for nothing.

But it was always for something.
This is where you rise,
not as some polished hero
on a white horse,
but as the quiet warrior
who’s learned to carry his pain
like a badge,
not a burden.

This is where you learn
to be soft with yourself,
to cradle your own broken pieces
and say,
“It’s okay.
You’re still here.
You’re still alive.”
And that—
that is enough.

Self-discovery isn’t a map.
It’s a scarred path,
a dirt road through the wilderness
of your fears and your past.
But each step forward
is a promise,
a declaration,
that no matter how hard it gets,
you’re here to stay.
You’re here to learn.
You’re here to fight.

GRATITUDE CHECK
1 thing you are grateful for… go!

11/10/2024

Have I done enough?
Have I said enough?
Have I been enough?
These questions press against the walls of my chest,
echoing like a whisper in an empty room.
Is there more to give from me,
or have I bled myself dry,
spilling every ounce of what I had left
into hands that never caught it?

Does anyone really need me now?
Or am I just another voice
lost in the static,
another face blending into the crowd,
unseen, unheard?
I look for my why—
my reason, my purpose—
but the fog swallows the answers,
leaving only the ache of the unknown.

What is here for me now?
Hate, maybe,
self-loathing wearing me down
until I’m nothing but this hollow shell,
worthless, empty,
drifting without purpose or reason.

But even in this darkness,
somewhere deep,
there's a flicker,
small, nearly invisible,
but it fights to stay lit.
Maybe I haven’t found the reason yet.
Maybe the why isn’t clear.
But if there’s still breath,
there’s still something—
even if it’s just the chance to find that spark
one more time.

You don’t have to know why now,
but keep looking.
Because sometimes,
survival itself
is purpose enough.

A week of pain
both body and mind,
the kind that crawls in like an old enemy,
doesn’t knock,
just breaks the door down.

I’ve been better, no lie,
but now the back screams f**k you
with every step,
with every twist.
It’s got a language of its own—
one I didn’t ask to learn.

And the mind,
well, that’s still lost in the dark,
like a room where someone forgot to pay the bill,
no light,
just echoes of things I don’t want to hear.

I’ve missed the cold bite of water,
craving it like some people crave a cigarette—
my fix.
But the river’s running too high,
wild, untouchable,
and Mother Nature’s laughing,
holding it just out of reach.

I need my vitamin sea,
the salt, the cold,
the truth of it
to shock me back to life.
But it’s out there,
while I’m stuck in here—
back twisted,
mind tangled,
waiting for the flood to calm.

I'll get back to it.
I always do.

World Mental Health Day: A Conversation That Should Happen Every Day
October 10th marks World Mental Health Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and promoting action for mental well-being. But the truth is, mental health isn’t something we should talk about just once a year—it’s something we should prioritize every day.

Mental health impacts every aspect of our lives—how we think, feel, and act. And yet, for too long, it’s been brushed under the rug, with conversations about mental health often shrouded in stigma and silence. That needs to change.

This year, let’s do more than raise awareness on October 10th. Let’s commit to making mental health part of our daily conversations, just like we do with physical health. Whether it’s checking in on a friend, making time for self-care, or seeking help when needed, every step we take helps break down the barriers to mental health support.

Here’s how we can start making mental health a daily priority:

Normalize the Conversation
Ask your friends, family, or colleagues how they’re really doing. Don’t wait for someone to be in crisis before you check in. Make mental health an ongoing conversation.
Practice Self-Care Regularly
Taking care of your mental health isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. Whether it’s going for a walk, practising mindfulness, or taking time to rest, make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine.
Support One Another
Be there for those who may be struggling. Sometimes, just knowing that someone is willing to listen can make all the difference. Offer your support without judgment.
Seek Help When You Need It
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or struggling with your mental health, don’t wait to seek help. Whether it’s talking to a therapist, counsellor, or trusted friend, asking for support is a sign of strength.
Let’s make mental health a conversation that happens every day. This World Mental Health Day, let’s commit to breaking the silence, ending the stigma, and supporting mental well-being for ourselves and others.

💬 What’s one thing you’re doing to prioritize mental health, today and every day?

Normalize Mental Health Care: Seeking Help is Strength, Not Weakness
The message in the image is a powerful call to action: Going to a counsellor or therapist when you’re feeling sad or overwhelmed should be as normal as going to the doctor when you have the flu.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. If you wouldn’t hesitate to seek medical help for a physical illness, why should it be any different for emotional or mental struggles?

It’s time to break the stigma around mental health. Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re strong enough to take care of yourself. Just as we nurture our bodies when we’re unwell, we must also nurture our minds.

Let’s make conversations about mental health as normal as any other health discussion. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, sad, anxious, or just not yourself, seeking help is the first step to healing.

🌸 Let’s end the stigma about mental health, together. 🌸

💬 What’s one way we can encourage more open conversations about mental health?

Functioning Through Depression and Anxiety: Finding Strength in Small Steps

Today, I really didn't want to get out of bed and face the day. The weight of everything going on—work stress, personal challenges, and the constant feeling of being overwhelmed—made it feel almost impossible. My mental health hasn't been at its best lately—it’s been a mix of things piling up, and it feels like a lot. But here I am, getting on with it, somehow making it work. What helped me was reminding myself that even small actions count, and thinking of the people who care about me gave me the push I needed.

Finding Strength in Small Steps

Dealing with depression and anxiety can feel overwhelming, like a weight that makes even the simplest tasks seem impossible. For example, sometimes even getting out of bed or taking a shower feels like climbing a mountain. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to do everything—you have to do the next thing. Today, the next thing for me was just getting out of bed. Maybe for you, it's brushing your teeth or making a cup of tea—each small action matters.

The focus is on progress, not perfection or productivity. Functioning through tough mental health days is hard, but every small step means something.

Reminders for Tough Days

When the world feels heavy, I remind myself to:

Take it one step at a time: Don’t think about the whole day, just focus on what’s right in front of you.

Celebrate small victories: Today I got up, I showed up. That’s progress. Whatever small thing you did today, celebrate it.

Be kind to myself: I’m doing my best, and that’s enough.

Reach out for support: No one has to do this alone. Leaning on friends, family, or professionals can make a difference.

Remember, it’s okay to struggle and it’s okay to ask for help. Consider reaching out to a helpline, a therapist, or a trusted friend who can offer support. Taking care of your mental health is not a weakness—it’s a form of strength.

❤️ What’s one small step you can take today?

EVERYONE YOU MEET IS FIGHTING A BATTLE YOU KNOW F**K ALL ABOUT.

JUST BE F**KING KIND!

BEING KIND TO YOURSELF IS THE ONLY JOB YOU HAVE

22/09/2024

In two weeks my tinker will be 18, I have not seen or talked to her in 11 months and it f**king breaks my heart, I went through this with Lewis and that drove me to the very edge of being here, I do not want to go through those feelings again, right now I am back at that lowest point I can be, what is the point if those who mean the most to me have no meaning at all. I hate me and I hate why I am actually here. I have no reason or purpose no why I am here.
