As professionally trained celebrants we are able to create and deliver a variety of personalised ceremonies for all of life’s occasions – specialising in weddings and funerals. She will meet with you to discuss your wishes and create a ceremony that is personal to you as a couple. A wedding is often the biggest celebration you will have, and Aly can help you to make sure your ceremony is perfect for you. A celebrant led ceremony gives you complete freedom of content. It also allows you to hold your celebration wherever you choose! Please note, your marriage will have to be made legal. This can be done with a quick, statutory marriage at the registry office beforehand, leaving the vows and celebrations till the day of your ceremony. Deena Partington writes and delivers funeral ceremonies. She will meet with you to arrange your loved one’s funeral ceremony, making it personal, special and unique. Working closely with you, the ceremony will capture the essence of your loved one’s life and reflect their values and beliefs. All ceremonies can be completely non religious or contain some religious or spiritual content – according to your wishes. Every ceremony is highly personalised and your input is what actually makes each one unique. For more information about our services, please contact Aly or Deena on 07789 403773

I’ve had lots of requests for this one recently, my love to all who relate…

A LIFE AROUND

I grew a life around my grief
despite its daunting size
I moved my things to fit it in
and listened when it sighed

I threw my windows open
to bring it nurturing sun
even grief needs daylight
and often craves a little fun

I washed my grief with care
I spoke to it of you
I brought it out to roam the park
the way you’d often do

this grief is quite the lodger
we’ve fallen into step
we mooch around like soulmates
in work, in play, in rest

and when the days feel light
grief lingers by the door
afraid he can’t accompany me
afraid he’ll be a bore

but in my heart I make a space
and bring him for the ride
together we walk side by side
I see no need to hide

I grew a life around my grief
I made a home for two
for now this grief’s a part of me
the me who’s missing you.

— You Don’t Just Lose Someone Once —
You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up,
and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realization hits home,
they are gone.
Again.
You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn,
and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart,
they are gone.
Again.
Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.
Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realize, they are gone,
Again.
You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,
for a lifetime.

THE STARS HAVE CALLED YOU HOME

The stars have called you home, love.
Up high, so far away.
I think they missed your brilliance,
they just couldn’t let you stay.

You’ve shone that light of yours, love.
on all the lives you touched.
We’ve known your joy for years and years,
I guess they thought ‘enough’.

They need your light up there now.
This world grows ever dark.
Your passion will rain down like love,
dripped into every heart.

The stars have called you home, now
we’ll miss you, every day.
And every night we’ll scour the skies,
to watch you, where you lay.

And when dark clouds are gathering,
and air’s too cold to breathe.
The life you lived will warm our bones,
and your star will help us see.
