CHANGE IN OPENING HOURS! :

We will no longer be opening on Saturday mornings. Our new opening times are 9-5:30 Monday-Friday, we close for lunch 1-1:30 every day.

Sorry for any inconvenience this causes, but the dynamics of the town have changed and Saturdays are extremely quiet.

Saturday 8th February, we have a company in to test our electrics. This does mean we will experience intermittent power loss. We will be open throughout.

UPDATE: we are now open.
Due to the adverse weather conditions and the red weather warning advising against travelling, we will not be opening this morning until it is safe for our staff and patients to travel to the practice. We will be assessing this again at 10:30am.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our director Mr David Phillips.
Dave was born in Pontypool and when the original Mr Wyman retired in 1984 he decided to come back to his home town to run the practice. He loved optometry and was working part time right up until June 2024 when he became ill. We will continue to provide all aspects of eye care to our patients, but he will be greatly missed by us all x

The First Minister for Wales has announced new national restrictions and we will enter COVID alert level 4 (stay at home lockdown) from 28 December 2020 to help to reduce the number of new coronavirus infections across Wales.
Wyman Opticians will remain open to enable patients to access essential and emergency eye-care services.
For advice, or to make an appointment, please phone us on 01495 762072 during opening hours.
We are following all Covid-19 protection guidelines to ensure the safety of our staff and patients.
If you have any symptoms of Covid-19, are awaiting test results, or are isolating due to contact please do not attend the practice.

Aneurin Bevan Health Board has rationalised the number of fully-opened optometry practices to provide urgent eye care. Temporarily, a neighbouring practice will assess your emergency eye condition and will return you to our care after this acute phase of COVID. Please contact 01633 877006 for triage.
We are continuing to monitor the phone and emails (wymanopt@btinternet.com) to call back anyone needing replacement spectacles or contact lenses.
Thank you for your continued support. Stay safe

We were hoping that we would not need to write this post, however unfortunately due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic we are going to have to close our doors temporarily.
So as of 12 pm today we will no longer be open. We will however continue to triage acute eye care via the phone/email on 01495 762072 / wymanopt@btinternet.com
If you have symptoms of Covid-19 and need acute eye care please contact NHS 111 and they will be able to arrange an appointment with an eye care provider in an environment equipped to manage the infection risks.
We are so disappointed to have reached this point and we will do our best to continue to support our patients as much as we can through this.
Stay safe everyone.
Wymans x
