🎄 Day 6 – Mood Swings 🎄
Menopause can sometimes feel like an emotional roller-coaster, and mood swings are one of the most common (and most frustrating!) symptoms many of us face. But understanding why they happen can make them feel a little less overwhelming.
During perimenopause and menopause, our hormone levels—especially estrogen and progesterone—can fluctuate dramatically. These hormones play a big role in regulating mood, energy, and even how we respond to stress. When they rise and fall unpredictably, it can leave us feeling irritable, teary, anxious, or just “not ourselves.”
💛 What Can We Do?
While we can’t avoid hormonal changes, we can support our emotional wellbeing in gentle, effective ways:
✨ Lowering Stress:
Chronic stress intensifies mood swings, making everyday frustrations feel heavier. Building small stress-reducing habits—like slowing down, setting boundaries, or carving out quiet moments—can create more emotional balance.
✨ Meditation & Mindfulness:
Even a few minutes a day can calm the nervous system and help soften emotional spikes. Deep breathing, guided meditations, and grounding exercises can bring you back to a steadier place when your emotions feel all over the map.
✨ Holistic & Complementary Therapies:
Treatments such as reflexology, aromatherapy, gentle massage, or energy-based therapies can help release tension, improve sleep, and support emotional stability. Many women find these approaches deeply nurturing during hormone-shifting years.
✨ Movement:
Gentle exercise—walking, yoga, stretching—can lift your mood and ease the emotional ups and downs.
✨ Sleep & Nourishment:
A rested, well-nourished body handles hormonal changes more gracefully. Prioritising sleep and choosing foods that support steady energy can make a real difference.
Remember: mood swings aren’t a sign of weakness—they’re a completely normal response to a period of huge change. You’re adapting, growing, and moving into a new chapter, and it’s absolutely okay to seek support along the way. 💕
