We’re thrilled to see Peppa Pig introducing a storyline that sees Peppa’s younger brother, George, diagnosed with moderate deafness and fitted with a hearing aid.

🎧 Why It Matters:
• The show was developed in partnership with the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) to make sure George’s experience is portrayed accurately and sensitively — from early diagnosis to adapting to new sounds with support.

• The storyline will even include an episode from George’s audio perspective, helping hearing children understand what the world sounds like for someone who is deaf or hard of hearing.

• George’s audiologist in the episode is voiced by Jodie Ounsley, a deaf athlete and role model, adding authenticity and positive role modelling to the series.

🌍 Inclusion & Empathy in Early Years:
Seeing a mainstream character discover deafness — and learn to navigate the world with a hearing aid — helps children:
✔ Understand that differences are normal
✔ Build empathy and curiosity, not fear
✔ Realise that deaf children can join in, play and thrive with the right support

📺 The episodes are set to start airing in early 2026, with UK launches on Milkshake! and digital platforms.

This is exactly the kind of media representation that helps us build a more inclusive society where all children feel seen, valued and understood. 💙

Peppa Pig's younger brother George will be diagnosed as moderately deaf in an upcoming episode of the iconic kids' show.
