Meadow Street Community Garden FREE Fun/Open Day ----Thursday 11am to 3pm
Please pop in and bring your family, friends, neighbours, organisation, participants and partners - all welcome - we want to show you how lovely and friendly this space is and to hear your ideas about what you might like to do with us in the future here. We are planning new projects and look forward to seeing you on the day.

Latest Update:
STR-ôc© `Green Spaces`. Has just recieved £500 funding to put towards the creation of a Aquaponics demonstration unit using IBC`s & raft beds within the Polytunnel. Together with a further £1,000 Grant funding application via the Pontypridd Neighbourhood Network (currently applied for) to purchase a solar energy system. to run the unit including any future project(s) needs.

Aquaponics is the combination of Aquaculture Ie the breeding of fish for either pleasure, profit or food production & Hydroponics the growing of food using neutrient rich water instead of soil.
Within Aquaponics all the neutrients needed are being produced by the fish themselves. Creating a fully sustainable ecosystem.
Using Aquaponics helps:
Produces fresher, larger, multiple yield crops, 12 months per year. in a fraction of the time. All of which Whilst using 95% less water, plus it Requires less space for growing & is an amazing 100% less reliance upon man made fertilisers & Pesticides.

All made possible due to the Scientific Quest to one day return to the moon & then in the future journey onto Mars. Vast amount of research has gone into exploring how a centuries old form of food production, first used by the pharohs can become the sustainable future of Farming. See entrepeneurs such as; Kimbal Musk brother of Elon Musk. Founder of Square Roots. Creating Aquaponic & Hydroponic farms in shipping containers.
Any surplus food produced within the project will be donated to the local food bank.

This is Something that over the last few months I have become extremely passionate about & if anyone wants to share in my passion, learn more about Aeroponics, Aquaculture, Aquaponics & Hydroponics etc, & would be interested to learn more. Or wish to participate just turn up & volunteer. Sessions held every Monday & Friday. 11:00am till 15:00pm

Ponty Bothy Men`s Shed Pontypridd made a visit to Treherbert Yesturday in order to meet up with both Crop Cycle Treherbert & Welcome to our woods. Where we met up with Andromeda Thomas and the rest of the crew.
She kindly showed us around their aquaponics / airoponics facility. Set up at the old Tappers Garage forecoat right smack in the middle of Treherbert. Where they have been developing the production of Microgreens using aerosol particles of steam ., A unique process that takes just 14 days from Germination to Harvest. Everyone was left speechless & inspired.
We enjoyed refreshments in the old Libuary before meeting up with Martyn Broughton from Welcome to our woods

Where he has a Mental Health & Wellbeing Therapy area situated within the woods based on the oppossitte side of the tracks at Treherbert Train Station.
A great day was had by everyone. New friendships were established & everyone left inspired. we look forward to returning their kind welcome in the near future.
