Salt plays an important role in the body, but too much can raise blood pressure and increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Many processed foods contain hidden salt, so it’s easy to consume more than recommended. On the other hand, very low salt levels can sometimes contribute to symptoms like muscle cramps, weakness or fluid balance issues, especially if combined with dehydration.

Staying well hydrated, keeping active and aiming for a balanced diet can help support healthy blood pressure. Understanding how salt affects your body can help you make informed choices. 🧂💧🩺✨

⚠️ Important Patient Notice – Trevithick Branch Site Closure (this Friday 13th) ⚠️

Due to essential electrical works, our Trevithick branch site will have a total loss of power for several hours this Friday.

Because there is a risk the work could overrun, the Trevithick branch site will be closed for the day. This is necessary as we will not have access to patients’ electronic records during the outage.

✅ Our other practice sites will remain open and providing full services as normal.

All appointments scheduled for Friday have already been arranged at our other locations.

If you need to contact the practice, please:
💻 Use our online consultation service via Klinik: https://www.carntocoast.co.uk/

📞 Or call us on 01209 717471

If a patient needs to be seen urgently, we will of course make the appropriate arrangements.

For some people, symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) can feel more noticeable or harder to manage during the winter.

But small things can help:

🔵 try some physical activity – anything that gets you moving
🔵 make the most of natural light – getting outside or sitting near windows
🔵 plan for tougher days – shifting stressful tasks or building in more rest

There’s also treatment available if you’re finding things really tough – such as light therapy, talking therapies or medication.
