People are struggling with endless waits on the phone for GP appointments, and the '8am scramble'.

Other people wanted to see more training for GPs on mental health, increasing awareness of the different treatment options available and understanding individual needs in mental health support.

These are just some of the finding of this year’s Big Mental Health Report.

By acting on the insights and the recommendations in our report, we can become a mentally healthier society.

Dissociation can make us feel disconnected from ourselves and the world around us. For example, we may have difficulty remembering certain events or feel like the world around us is unreal. Dissociation can be a response to too much stress, like a traumatic event.

Here are six tips you could try to help you cope with dissociation👇

* Keep a journal. It may help you understand and remember different parts of your experience.

* Try visualisation. Imagining different scenes and environments can help soothe difficult feelings. For example, you might find it helpful to imagine a place that feels safe.

* Try grounding techniques. For example, breathing slowly while counting might help you feel more connected to the present.

* Talk to people with similar experiences. Lots of people don’t understand dissociation and it can be stigmatised. So it might be helpful to chat to other people.

* Look after your wellbeing. Getting enough sleep and exercise can help you cope with difficult experiences like dissociation.

*Seek support. If you’re struggling to get help, it might be useful to find an advocate to help you express your views and wishes.

We hope you find this helpful for yourself or friends who may be experiencing dissociation đź’™
