Not one, not two, but THREE kings recently visited The Aldbury for our Three Kings Day celebrations 👑

Residents and staff explored the traditions of Epiphany, danced, enjoyed a pinata, and shared slices of Roscon de Reyes cake. Tony, Terry, and Bincy brought the Three Wise Men to life, with Margaret and David as Mary and Joseph. A joyful afternoon of learning, laughter, and festivities 🎉

Students from The Dorset School of Acting recently returned for a festive visit, performing carols and popular 60s songs in Christmas outfits. Residents sang along, played percussion instruments, and enjoyed every moment.

Adrian and William from Canford School also joined before their Christmas break. Some residents took to dancing, Patricia thanked the students, and many shared how much the performance brought back happy memories.

Our kind-hearted residents and team members recently came together to support families in need this Christmas 🎄

Five residents and three colleagues visited the Poole Food Bank+ hub to deliver donations. Adding a touch of festive cheer to the occasion, the group travelled in true seasonal style — dressed as Christmas elves.

After handing over the donations, residents and hosts shared tea, homemade cakes and mince pies, taking time to talk about the food bank’s vital work supporting around 100 local families each month.

Resident Terry reflected, “We were pleased to hear how successful the food bank is and how many families it helps” ✨

The Aldbury joined forces with our sister home Fernhill Dementia Care Home for a heart-warming choir session, filling the room with festive spirit and joy. Residents and companions followed Colten's Music and Arts Partner Fiona’s gentle lead through classic carols and beloved hymns, with “Let It Snow” such a hit it was performed twice! ❄️

Valerie shared with Companion Beth how “moving” it felt, recalling cherished moments singing in church. An afternoon of connection, reflection, and seasonal warmth that truly lifted spirits.

Our sensory garden at The Aldbury has a new addition — meet The Aldbury Falls 🌿

Residents Heather, Margaret, Tony, Jeanette, and Linda joined staff and Roxy the dog to celebrate the opening of the water cascade. The sound of running water adds calm, attracts wildlife, and makes the garden an even more special place to relax and enjoy.

Margaret’s recent visit to the salon offered more than a fresh cut and blow-dry from Candy — it also came with a dose of affection from Roxy the dog.

Roxy has been visiting The Aldbury with her human for nine years, becoming a much-loved part of the salon routine.

She often settles comfortably on residents’ laps while they wait for their hair to set or enjoy their appointment, offering gentle companionship that always raises a smile.

“Beats reading a magazine!” laughed Margaret, delighting in Roxy’s company.

Residents at The Aldbury created 106 tissue paper poppies to mark 106 years since the first official Armistice observance in 1919.

Each poppy was carefully crafted and placed on a canvas to create a beautiful display for Remembrance Sunday. The activity not only brought joy and a sense of achievement, but also sparked meaningful conversations about times past.

A heartfelt tribute, created with care and reflection, to honour those who served.
