Elizabeth and her daughter recently spent the afternoon piecing together a colourful hot air balloon puzzle.

They reminisced about completing puzzles together in years gone by and Elizabeth was delighted to see all the colours coming together. “I have not done a puzzle for a long time and have really enjoyed this,” she told us.

We’re looking forward to the next puzzle social! 🧩

🌱 Our Garden Club projects are in full swing! Residents have been planting tomatoes, courgettes, runner beans, wildflowers – and even giant sunflowers 🌻

Despite a minor radish raid by slugs, spirits remain high and replanting is already underway! The colourful ladybird crossing – created by residents – now adds a cheerful touch to our garden walks and summerhouse socials.

What a wonderful day out around Poole harbour on board The Dolphin III, The Friends Of The Dolphin charity!

It was the perfect day to be on the water as today temperatures reached 30 degrees and the water was completely calm.

Companion Melissa spotted a seal close by in the water and one of the other passengers decided to call him Sammy. Sammy swam towards the boat once he heard his name!

For his 83rd birthday, Beatles superfan Bill wished for a celebration inspired by his favourite band — and it didn’t disappoint.

With family, fellow residents, and Companions dressed in colourful tie-dye, the party was full of joy and nostalgia. Musician Nigel Revill performed a set of Beatles classics, with Twist and Shout — Bill’s favourite — played twice to a cheering crowd 🎸🎶

The dance floor was full, with residents singing, swaying, and reminiscing.

During a conversation about fashion in the 80’s, Companion Pauline spoke about bringing back an old fashion trend of tie dying.

Residents loved the idea of making their very of creations and were very pleased with the final results, especially since we had to wait overnight to see how they would turn out!

A couple of great days reminiscing, and we can’t wait to use these T-Shirts for our upcoming parties and sell at our future events, to help raise money for our charity of the year Prama Care.

118 Years Later, a Family Connection Comes Full Circle.

When Bill, a resident at The Aldbury Dementia Care Home in Poole, shared his wish to visit Brownsea Island and see his great great-grandfather’s name on a historic plaque, our team made it happen.

Over a century ago, Bertie Watts was one of the original Scouts who joined Lord Baden Powell’s first ever camp. This summer, Bill followed in his ancestor’s footsteps, with his daughters by his side, to find that the name is still there.

From sailing stories to Girl Guide memories, the trip sparked reflections and smiles for everyone. And yes, even a red squirrel made an appearance.

🐞 Ladybirds, Succulents & Smiles

Residents at The Aldbury have been getting creative in the garden, turning spare pebbles into a colourful ladybird display, complete with succulent art and a beautiful plaque designed by Terry.

It was a fun, collaborative project with residents and carers working side by side, adding a touch of charm (and a smile!) to our outdoor space. 💚

Our residents enjoyed making homemade birthday cards recently. Now, we’re looking forward to making cards for anniversaries and events all year around.

Our plan is to sell our cards to raise funds for our charity of 2025, Prama. They will be displayed in our reception area for all to see and be purchased for that special occasion.

Join our residents and staff from all our Bournemouth & Poole homes as we ‘Pop Up’ at Poole Park to perform a medley of songs 🎵☀️ Bring a blanket and a picnic, and sing along to some of your favourite tunes!
