The Trusted Reviewer team at Community Action Network (CAN) is working alongside BCP Council to find out what adults aged 60 - 75 feel contributes to a happy, healthy life to help shape future commissioning of services and community activities available in local areas.

CAN's 'Voices of the Future' project is looking for participants from the BCP area. We're hoping to hear from people about what keeps them happy, healthy, and connected in their daily lives and communities. The project wants to know what matters to them now and what they feel could be improved or might be missing in their community. If you work with older people in the BCP area, we would be grateful if you could share this call for participants to:

- Complete a short questionnaire: Participants can fill this out online, on paper or over the phone. Voices of the Future: Questionnaire
- Have a chat: People can also have a one-on-one conversation with the team or participate in a group discussion.

In England, over 15 million general practice appointments are missed annually due to patients failing to attend and cancel, with one source stating that this equates to 7.2 million booked GP appointments. We are actively trying to bring this number down at our practice to help the waiting list to see a doctor / nurse / practitioner.

In July we had 5605 available appointments of which 253 patients did not attend (4.51%). In August we had 4359 appointments available of which 177 did not attend (4.06%).

We are asking patients who did not attend to kindly complete a short questionnaire to find any trends. Reasons for not attending in August were "Forgot" "Didn't realise I needed to check in" "was too sick to ring". "Didn't know I had an appointment."

Do please try to keep your appointments or cancel them if you no longer need them to help us bring down the wait for routine appointments. THANK YOU

NHS England have reported that General practice teams have delivered a record 33.6 million appointments in July 2025, up 4.3% on the year before and up nearly a quarter on the same period pre-pandemic (24.3% increase since 2019). GP teams also carried out high numbers of care home visits this July, with 127,112 carried out, the second highest on record. Free Creative Courses to support Mental Health Recovery – Poole/Hamworthy/Weymouth/Online

CoCreate are delighted to share their creative courses for Autumn 2025.

Courses are for people experiencing, or in recovery from, mental health problems, and/or need support for their mental wellbeing.

Courses are led by Creative Health professionals; professional artists, skilled in supporting people experiencing or recovering from mental health challenges.
