Flu levels are on the rise, but there are still plenty of options for people to have their flu vaccination including walk in clinics running in the community. People can also visit their local pharmacy or contact their GP. Find out more here:

Flu (influenza) is an illness that can be serious and can affect your nose, throat and sometimes the lungs. You can catch flu all year round, but it's especially common in winter, which is why it's also known as seasonal flu. Healthy individuals usually recover within two to seven days, but for some...

The Medicines Team has worked on shared objectives with system pharmacy and medical leaders to reduce overprescribing, unplanned admissions, and improved medicines spending. This work has achieved £7m of efficiencies and resulted in 24,000 people having a person-centred review resulting in an observed drop in admissions for frail patients. The Only Order What You Need campaign was so successful it won a national award, and the Dorset Communications Team made the assets available so that over 70 other areas across the country are benefiting from using these resources. The Dorset Oral Health Programme has been co-designed with Public Health and a university partner to transform oral health in Dorset. The work has been recognised nationally, and the team are now co-authors developing the Chief Dental Officer England National Framework for Improving Oral Health in rural and coastal areas. Mobile dental vans have bene rolled out supporting vulnerable communities including people experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence.

Dorset residents can also access urgent care via 111 with 26,000 appointments accessed since March this year. This is just the start of a journey to change the dental landscape in Dorset for the better.

We've been working hard to try to reduce the number of patients who did not attend (DNA) their appointment with us over the last few months. In July we had a high of 4.5% DNA rate but this has been dropping over the last few months to October's new record low of 3.28%. We've crept up a bit in November however with 4.03% DNA rates. Please do remember to contact us to cancel your appointment to help free up slots for other patients.
