20 Reiki Masters. One sacred day.
The Retreat New Forest has been home to the Richard Ellis School of Reiki since its very beginning—a place where the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition has been practiced, taught, and lived.
To gather here with fellow masters, sharing practice, insight, and deep healing, is such a gift.
At a time when Reiki is often diluted, coming together in this space to celebrate our lineage, honor its mystic roots, and uphold the integrity of our practice felt especially meaningful.

Twenty Reiki Masters gathered for my recent Reiki Day at The Retreat New Forest
We shared insights, practiced together, and experienced deep healing.
In a time when Reiki is often being diluted, it felt powerful to honor the mystic order of Usui Shiki Ryoho—to stand in its tradition with humble, heart-centered masters, and to honour our lineage.

Gasshō means “two hands coming together.”
In Reiki, it is a foundational posture of presence, humility, and unity.
We bring the palms together in front of the heart, fingers pointing upward, in what many recognize as a prayer position.

This is not a religious act, but a gesture of reverence—toward life, the present moment, and the energy that flows through all things.

How to Practice
1. Find a comfortable seated position.
Let the spine be upright but not rigid. Feel the sit bones rooted.
2. Bring your hands together in Gasshō.
Palms touching, fingers pointing up, thumbs lightly resting against the chest at the level of the heart.
3. Close your eyes and begin to observe your breath.
No need to change it—simply feel it.
Inhale…
Exhale…
Notice the sensation of breath entering the body and leaving it.
Notice the warmth between your palms.
4. Let your attention rest lightly on the space between the hands.
Over time, you may feel heat, vibration, or a pulsing sensation.
This is the awareness of energy—ki—awakening through presence.
5. If your mind wanders, gently return to the breath or the feeling of the hands.
Allow each breath to return you to this moment.
Back to stillness.
Back to the heart.

The concept of distant healing is truly fascinating and profound. It's not about projecting energy across a physical distance, but rather about transcending the illusion of separateness and distance. When we engage in distant healing, we're not two separate entities - the sender and the receiver - but rather, we're expressions of the same universal energy or Source. In this sacred space, our perception of time and space shifts. Time becomes fluid, enabling us to address past traumas and bolster future intentions. Space, as we understand it, collapses, underscoring the inherent interconnectedness of all beings. The concept of duality, of "I" healing "you," dissolves, reminding us that we're all part of the same whole. This is the beauty of distant healing. It's a reminder of our unity, our shared Source, and our ability to support and heal each other, regardless of physical distance.
