It’s osteoporosis awareness month!
Did you know that our bones are living structures which are constantly remodelling. Our whole skeleton is replaced every 10-12 years 😱
There are many factors that influence the density (strength) of our bones 🦴 some we cannot change, but there are plenty of factors that we CAN change 👌

Check out The Royal Osteoporosis Society website for a wealth of information about how weight bearing (impact) exercise and progressive resistance training can help to strengthen our bones!

This week in class we did a glutes challenge using a band. Apologies to those who had those evil black bands 😂😱 Try these 4 exercises and if you can, do 2 sets!

1. Banded hip twist- keep the pelvis level as you push alternate knees out into the band. Gently push the foot on the other side into the mat, to stabilise your pelvis

2. Banded hip twist in bridge- come up into bridge, keep the hips up as you push alternate knees out into the band.

3. Bridge with static bilateral hip twist- push both knees out into the band, maintain this position as you lift your pelvis up & down

4. Banded single leg bridges- bring one leg to single table top, push into the other foot to drive your hips up, lower the pelvis with control

Last few places for the next 6 week block of Physio Led Pilates, starting Monday 13th April.

Chartered physiotherapist and APPI certified Pilates mat work instructor offering small friendly classes in Parkstone, Westbourne and Alder Hills.

Class size limited to 10 with a mix of ages and abilities and I do have gents in most of my classes!

Monday 9:30am FULL
Wednesday 9:30am FULL
Wednesday 10:40 limited spaces (beginners)
Thursday 10:30am FULL
Thursday 6pm FULL
Thursday 7:15pm limited spaces (intermediate)

First class £5 as a taster, then £11 per class payable in a block.

1:1 sessions are available for Pilates and/or physiotherapy (contact me to discuss your needs)
