Menopause is definitely not just about hot flushes. 🔥

Hair and beauty products can be loaded with toxins that will interfere with our hormones.

This is something I've started to think about increasingly over the past few years.

Hormone disruption leads to an increased number of symptoms in menopause and an increased intensity in many of those symptoms 😳

Therefore, anything we can do to improve this situation has to be worth it.

💪✨ Bands, not just barbells

Some things in midlife are non-negotiable - staying strong is one of them.

BUT you don’t have to pick up heavy dumbells or barbells to build strength.

Resistance bands are one of my favourite tools to use in my own workouts and to recommend for women navigating perimenopause and beyond — and here’s why:

🌿 Joint-friendly — As oestrogen declines, our tendons and ligaments can become more vulnerable. Bands provide resistance without the joint strain that sometimes comes with free weights and can help to create increased stability.

🌿 Progressive — They come in different resistance levels, so you can start light and gradually build up, just like with weights.

🌿 Versatile — You can use them for strength training, Pilates, mobility, postural, or flexibility work. One piece of equipment has so many options.

🌿 Accessible — Less intimidating than a gym full of weights and easy to learn. Great if you’re starting (or re-starting) your strength journey.

🌿 Portable — They roll up in your bag, so you can work out at home, in the garden, or even while travelling.

In midlife, you don't need to beat your body into submission. It’s about building strength that supports your bones, joints, and daily life — so you feel more capable, stable, and confident. Resistance bands tick that box beautifully.

So if the weights section feels off-putting (or just doesn’t appeal), please know that you can still build a strong, resilient body in midlife with nothing more than a band.

The wellness world is really bloody noisy, isn’t it?

And when it comes to peri-menopause, that noise gets even louder and often unbearable.

There’s no shortage of advice, supplements, programs, and ‘solutions’ out there.

Some of it’s brilliant.

Some of it… rubbish.

But when you’re trying to help yourself through something you barely understand, it’s easy to get caught in a cycle of knee-jerk decisions, quick fixes, and well-meaning advice that just doesn’t work for you.

Then comes the overwhelm, the confusion, the frustration, and the feeling that you'll never get to the bottom of it.

So, you give up, and you just put up with it.

Until you start searching again… and round you go—rinse and repeat.
