🌿 Pilates Teacher & Chartered Physiotherapist
Hello, I’m Lucy Purrier — a Chartered Physiotherapist and experienced Pilates Teacher based in Poole, Dorset.
I teach physiotherapist-led Pilates and chair Pilates classes that are supportive, clinically informed and designed especially for older adults, beginners and those recovering from injury or managing long-term conditions.
💫 My Journey
I first discovered Pilates while studying Physiotherapy at King’s College London, graduating in 2000 with First Class Honours.
Introduced to Pilates at the Laban School of Dance, I was drawn to its precision, control and focus on posture and core strength. After years of study (two degrees and a PGCE) left me with chronic back pain, Pilates helped me realign, strengthen and move freely again — and I’ve been passionate about it ever since.
🩺 Clinical Background
I worked for 16 years in the NHS, including over a decade as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at Poole Hospital.
I hold:
• Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine (2003)
• McKenzie Credentialed Therapist (2007)
🧘♀️ Teaching with Purpose
After postnatal recovery, I certified as a Pilates teacher with the APPI in 2013 and founded Lucy Purrier Physio Pilates. I later trained with MK Pilates, completing the International Bridging Pilates teacher Certificate (2021) and am now also qualified as a Reformer Teacher (2025).
I don’t just demonstrate exercises — I teach Pilates. I guide, correct and support each client so movements are safe, effective and tailored to their needs.
